Hi,
I'm trying to load my theme and plugins to my blog through FileZilla. I upload to public_html>mysite.com>blog. Is this correct? If so, I don't see the plugins or theme in my blog admin panel.

Thanks for your help.

    No.
Under blog, look for wp-content/plugins - that is where you upload plugins.
Look for wp-content/themes - upload your themes here.

And don't worry too much about grammar, as long as you do it right.

Hmmmm. I uploaded the theme in wp-content and it's still not there.

    Hi Christie,

On /public_html/your-site.com/blog/wp-content you can find sub folder themes and plugins. Upload your files there.

    Hope it helps

If you have 2.7 you can upload from the admin.

Uploading from admin seems to be the easiest. How do I do that?

          Christie,

in your dashboard look at the left menu...go down to "Plugins"
          click "Add New"
you'll then be able to search for the plugins you want and there will be a button that will say "Install" on the plugin page

the themes, however, are not yet able to be installed from within WordPress 2.7 so you still have to download them, unzip them, and then upload the theme folder via FTP. Make sure you upload themes into your wp-content/themes directory.

You need to upload themes, unzipped, to wp-content/themes, not wp-content.
Plugins - you can activate them through admin panel. But, before that, you need to upload them to wp-content/plugins first!

      Hi,
after you've uploaded your theme to wp_content/themes you'll have to go to your dashboard and look for the voice "Appearence" if closed click on it, after it's open you'll see "Themes" click on it then opens a new page with your theme inside, click again on the theme you wish, opens a black transparent screen where on the upper right side you'll have to activate your theme. After this everything is done and you should see your blog with the desired theme.
      Hope this helps!
      Greetings

with WordPress 2.7 you no longer have to upload the plugins..you can click "Add New" under plugins..and you are then taken to a search page, you search for the plugin you want and then you click the install button on the top right of the plugin page.

when you download your theme you must unzip the file and then upload the theme folder in your wordpress wp-content/theme folder on your server..then click "Themes" located in the Appearance Section on the left menu in your dashboard. You should now see your themes.

You want to make sure the theme doesn't have any sub directories. For example you could download themecool and then it unzips to themecool\themecool\ If you upload that first directory wordpress will not see it. You need to upload only one directory with the files directly underneath it. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi~
    I have a somewhat similar question/problem.
I've just started building a blog for the first time.
The problem I'm having is that when I've tried downloading
a new theme, I go thru all the steps, and then in wp-admin,
    there is no new theme.
I've tried, re-tried, made sure not to have nested folders, used
the FTP on hostmonster, gone thru cpanel, and each time-- No New Theme
in available themes. I was using wp 2.7, then uninstalled that and
    went with v2.6.5.
What in the world am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

    Aloha Christie

I have noticed that when you unzip some WordPress themes you get a folder that you can directly send up to your host to place in the wp-content/themes folder. On other themes you get a folder that contains another folder, it is this second folder that needs to be sent up to the server.

A good way to tell if you have the correct folder to send is to look inside it. You should see a bunch of PHP files (footer.php, headrer.php etc) and perhaps a images folder.

Hope this helps, please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

    Bill
