Best Shopping Cart for Digital Products - Longevity

Hi all,

I am working on a PLR website, starting with WP. The suggestion is to use DLGuard, which sounds good but is very pricey for my miniscule budget right now. Additionally, it pulls people off site for the download and I worry it may cause some users to feel insecure about the transaction. One thing I really like is the opt-in setting for Aweber, but could that be accomplished easily for a non-techy some other way?

Is there a reason I shouldn't use Zen Cart, buy my own SSL, and link my WP product info pages to my onsite secure shopping cart instead of DLGuard for purchase?

Is there another cart/digital download option that would be better suited to this purpose? If I am to pay, I want to just buy something outright instead of being stuck with monthly fees, and it would be nice to have something I can use across multiple sites but that's not necessary.

Thanks in advance for the help. I'm feeling dazed and confused here and want to make sure I start out right so I'm not backtracking down the road.

    It seems you have already built your site and this information may or may not be relevant to you.

    I know a Wordpress Theme called Emporium Templatic theme - it allows you to upload your digital product and right there when a customer buys the product it would be downloadable right inside your site, no leading your customer outside to some untrusted places.

    Thanks for the reply. I bought WP eStore and while it is essentially the same as DLGuard, it has all of the features I want but was much less expensive.
