Hi, Im new to Internet Marketing and have been looking to start my own Wordpress niche sites. Im wondering about what theme framework you recommend that I use. I have heard a lot of good things about thesis but I dont have any experience with code (or 'hooks'). Also how difficult would it be for a novice to learn to use Thesis?

Cheers

I didn't know anything about coding before I bought Thesis and I still don't, not much anyway, but I get by pretty easily.

I know enough to make a half decent looking site and it's quite easy to customise your site with Thesis. As with most things there is a bit of a learning curve and some trial and error but there's plenty of help and tutorials online for Thesis users.

I can't compare it to other paid themes as i haven't used any but I have thought about it. I don't need to buy any other theme really at the moment because I've got to know Thesis and like using it. I normally use the Easy Thesis skin with it.

As someone who's not very techy and started out knowing nothing about Wordpress and coding I can give you my opinion.

I wasted a TON of time at the start trying to figure out how to tweak different things in Wordpress. If I could go back, I would have invested the little bit of money to have someone set up a site in a premium theme (whether Thesis or Genesis or one of the biggies). I would have it set up in a way that looks good for pretty much any niche, with just the header needing to change.

Then, I would just use the same theme and set up over and over. I would also pay someone the little it costs to have a header made for each site. Unless you're already good at this type of thing, your time is best spent in the money-making parts of the business. You'll earn a profit faster.

That said, I still think it is important to do a few tutorials in Wordpress (if you haven't already) and learn some very basic html code and how to navigate around your theme.

srsheldon, would you be considered of leaving footprint, or all your sites looking same, or ... Actually it is not that hard to use any theme. I can suggest Elegantthemes - there are bunch of nice looking themes and it is straightforward to set them up.

I'm not sure I understand about leaving a footprint. I can't see why using the same site layout would be a problem. There are tons of sites out there that have the same theme and layout, just different headers. It's the content that counts.

The part that ends up being difficult is when you want to make changes to a theme. E.g., if you don't like the font size and have to go into the CSS files. Or, if you want to change the menu layout. I had to learn all of those types of things and wasted way too much of my time figuring things out. I could have been doing more productive stuff, like creating content and marketing.

Anyway, when I'm looking for new themes, I'll check out your suggestion.

        Thanks.
