Help with my Wordpress Site

I have had a blog set up for a while now and just recently started posting again regularly and am actually ranking on 1st page of Google for several keywords.

I have an opt in form on the site that I offer a free report for signup, problem is it does not go to a free report just opts them in. Any advice on after opt in how to set up and send them the free report.

Here is a link to my site. Any advice appreciated.

  • Hi,

Depending on the email service that you use, you should be able to setup a thank you page (displayed after a visitor signs up). This is where you can put the free report.

Another solution is to make the first email in your series a thank you type email with a link to download the free report. This helps cut down on junk email addresses as a visitor would have to use a valid email in order to receive the report.
  • Whenever I set up a new opt-in sequence I always write the process I want my readers to follow on a piece of paper - call it the customer journey if you like.

I see from your site that you're using Aweber...

When setting up the opt in form you can specify the URL of the page you want customers to go to after completing the step. No coding required - just put the URLs into the boxes for the 'Thank you' page and for the 'Confirmation' page.

You can either attach your report as a file to your first email (from Aweber) for you can give them a link on the confirmation page from which they can download it.

This article goes into a bit more detail (although the PayPal bit is not relevant to your question here):

    • Thanks Martin I had an ah ha moment when reading your post, very helpful, mind sharing what you think the site looks like in general?
  • Although I am not Martin... I'd carefully review the zillion blue hues and colours.
Somehow too many different blues for me: the bg, the more link, the title fonts, the aweber form etc.

Especially the read more bg is strikingly wrong colour
  • I agree with Istvan - too many shades and colours makes it very busy (at least on the front page).

That OnlyWire button on each snippet on your front page is very annoying because if you inadvertently run your mouse over it (easy to do as it's right under your 'read more' button), it pops up that exceedingly irritating window, obscuring everything else - including the 'read more' button.

Also, your site loads very slowly for me - it would be worth looking into that.

    Cheers,

    Martin.
