If your going to build a website regarding web design and development I would use what will showcase your talents the most. Whether it be your service, or an outsource service your promoting, the better looking your site the better feedback you will get from it.

As for the platform, I always suggest using a CMS like Wordpress or Joomla...They have more functionality and are more cross browser compatible.

I'd suggest not to do it

If you are NOT an expert in web development, then you shouldn't have a website about it.
If you are an expert... no need to ask questions in a forum because you already know the answer.

Well, first of all, sit down and think about the purpose of your site; what do you want it to achieve? What sort of features do you want it to have, and how can you integrate those with each of the platforms? Which one will be easier to produce the desired functionality on?

These are all questions you should be asking yourself before committing to making a webpage. I personally use HTML/CSS and Javascript for my websites, as I am familiar with that platform, and I can achieve all the things I want for my sites with it. Should I need extra features that aren't easily accommodated with that, then I will learn the best platform to provide them, if learning a new platform is easier than adapting what I know to suit the requirements.

Ultimately, you need to weigh up what you know against what you want to do. If you are showcasing your talent for web design, then you're best picking the platform which will allow you to do that to your fullest extent. I can't answer for you which that will be, it will be up to you to decide which is the best for you.

    Good luck with your website!

    Hi,
Definitively Html..If you want your website to rank higher in search engines..
Most search engines can't read flash websites. The truth is that Google has already started crawling flash content. To which extent I'm not sure, but you don't want to risk being on the last pages. To rank higher, create static Html pages and install WordPress blog as well.
