What are your thoughts on the overall design? Any ways to improve the user experience?

How to improve site speed (especially on first load)? ( I do have a lot of dynamic pictures and plugins that clog up the site ) but is there a way to improve the speed without cutting down on these? I already have the smush it plugin for photos and a caching plugin for overall speed)

Thats a theme to be proud of!

Nice, clean, easy to use and loads fast. Good job.

good stuff there kret0s. as for speed, you should look into wp-minify and w3 caching(i think). unfortunately it's running buddypress which is a nightmare of a database without some pretty significant customizations. but people will probably notice a performance boost if you start minifying you css and js files and add some caching. good luck with it!

    Nice site

    - I would resize the slider's images to 934 x 633px, so WP don't have to resize it.
    - Your images too big (in terms of filesize)
    Your image 500 x 330px have 150KB in size, I would've compress it to less than 80KB.

    Thanks guys!

I have minify and caching plugins installed already - but the site speed still isn't very satisfying for me - especially on a computer that's never loaded my site before

Resizing images and compressing is a good idea - A little bit tedious though..
Would it affect the image quality? I like having quality photos for my visitors

I worry someday the site will be ultra-slow from the increase in photos - since photos play a big role in my site

    Cheers

Are you running your site using Wordpress version 3.3?

Immediately I upgraded to version 3.3, all my blogs slowed down drastically. I solved this by increasing the memory allocation.

Try adding this to your .htaccess file:

      php_value memory_limit 64M

My blogs are humming along again...
