Need feedback on a new site

My wife has an e-commerce web site that wasn't doing very well. It was an oscommerce based site that was technically great doing all the things we needed, such as inventory, reports, etc, but it wasn't selling very well.

Because of this, I decided to start from scratch and re-do the whole site so it would be more user friendly, and hopefully attract more buying customers.

I want to get some feedback from people here to see what they like, and what they would change. There are a few things I would like to change, but working within the constraints of the shopping cart and payment systems means I can't do everything that I would like.

You can find the site at EasyDiapering.com - We make Cloth Diapers Easy!

I like the slogan, and love the idea! Unfortunately, that's about it. The navigation buttons, while look nice, are too big and "bulky". They distract from what you're trying to sell. Also, if you're handy with Photoshop, I'd get a nice looking logo to compliment that great slogan! Having a professional looking logo will increase your sales significantly - I guarantee it!

All in all, I would really consider trying a different template for the design. If you're really serious about this, you may want to have a designer build you a site; keep in mind that this can be very expensive. I charge anywhere from $700 to $2000 for a design.

Whatever you do, please keep us informed.

    Good luck!

P.S. Oh...do you offer free shipping to Canada? When my fiance and I have a little one next year, we'd like to go the "cloth diaper route".

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Unfortunately, the site can't justify a professional design, but I will look in to see what I can do with a different theme.

We haven't had to ship to Canada, but from what I hear I don't think free shipping would be possible. Send me a message when the time comes, and I can get you a deal. From what I have learned, pretty much any cloth diapers will be a lot cheaper than the disposable alternatives.

      Thanks,

      Tim

I still don't have a logo, that is a task for another day, but I have changed the menu structure. Check it out now, and let me know if it looks any better.

I agree. The site needs a better template. Especially that site will be a commerce site.

I think that because of what you are selling, the site needs to contain a more 'fun', 'cute', aspect to it. Right now it's a bit sterile. You can easily add some color and more pictures to it and make it more pleasing to the eye.

    Good luck.

You're on the right track with the navigation menu. It's much less distracting now.

I agree with vdys. You need to 'spice' things up a bit. There are many free templates out there that will accomplish this task. Take a look through some threads on the forum and I'm sure you'll find one to match.

Good luck, and let us see what you come up with!

      Thanks for all the advice.

Hopefully I can find some graphics that are appropriate for the content and the audience.
