Where are the best places to put adsense banners on site.

I have adsense banners in the header and right side of the page. Is this overkill. Where are the best places to put adsense banners?

    Do a search for "website visitor heat maps" and the most clicks come from the top of the content, about halfway through the content, and the right inner column.

    That being said, IMHO the best place for Adsense is in the trash and go CPA or affiliate ads instead. You'll earn more moolah...

    I usually add my ads in the middle of the page or off to the right side near the top. This way all the content is still in your main area. I think the main area is the left of the screen. Most websites are designed with content on the left.
    I also like to use different sizes of banners on the site. This help to not take away from your product you are selling or the information on your site.

    for me adsense banners are best placed on the right side, then if your page is too long to scroll down, you can also put them as line break of your content

      This is true because most people tend to read from left to right. You'll always have better attention on the right than the top left or left in general.
