Need help with Wordpress comments issue

I am trying to separate my comments from trackbacks. I have successfully done this before...but I am struggling this time around.

Please see the following Pastie of my entire comments.php file:

At the time of this writing, I have 6 comments, and 1 trackback.

however, what outputs on line 62 in that code is the number 8. It says 8 trackbacks.

Line 25 says the correct number of responses (which includes trackbacks) as 7.

What am I doing wrong?

    You might want to take a look at the disqus plugin for Wordpress. It is very robust, allows for video commenting and I believe can be configured to do what you are looking for.
