What Wordpress Theme Do You Use?

I have been contemplating this for a few days now. It actually is quite a big decision because I feel that the theme is what makes the site/blog.

Also, I do not like to give secrets but I am currently writing articles for losing belly fat. Now on this I would love to set this up as my niche site. It is my first one. I know that its quite a bit a task because of the competition but Im not scared. Now, with that in mind would you set up a pre-sell page then have them go to your article page.

Also, does anyone know of a good Aweber coupon. I need to start setting up my list.

Lol! Seems like everyone these days is making fat loss products. Looks like you're in for a lot of work. The weight loss niche is very competitive. Anyway, I would go with the optimizepress theme. It is only $97, but it looks like you're low on cash since you're looking for an aweber coupon. I suggest you start out with mailchimp first. I think you get to e-mail up to 500 people for free though it doesn't include the autoresponder feature.

A pre-sell page? You're going to have to test this out to see what converts better for you. By pre-sell page I assume you mean a squeeze page that redirect to your sales page. That's what I do for most of my products and it works really well. On the squeeze page I offer something of value in exchange for an opt-in, then I redirect them to the sales page while "that something of value (free e-book)" gets sent to their e-mail.

Alternatively, if I'm just setting up a blog, I don't set a "presell/ squeeze page" that then redirects them to my blog (articles). I simply place an opt-in box in the sidebar, or a light box. Remember, to test this out to see what converts better. Hope this helps.

If I understand you correctly, one of your questions is what theme to use on your wordpress blog. I asked a similar question here recently and one thing that came back was the need for a SEO optimized theme. You may want to keep that in mind. Good luck, Ed.

The weightloss niche is pretty full. I do agree there. I am in the midst of writing articles for this blog. I need to head over to clickbank and find a product to offer. I then to start posting and promoting. I think I can do okay with it. But, you may have a point. Maybe Ill run it through Market Samurai to see what I can come up with.

Oh I am a bit low on funds. But, I can also sell a few articles that I wrote that can bring in more funds. So, I am not really too worried about that.

Google will rank any platform that provides relevant information that is supplied in a way they recognize as their idea of best practice.

There is ways to fend off hackers but if they want in and are good at it .. they will get in. Back it up often.

I like the AuthorityPro theme, which has a lot of really great features. On the subject of security I heard that WP sites installed with Fantastico are easier to hack. I think that was from Yaro Starak, who has a system for installing them in a more secure way of installing Wordpress.

I always try to mix it up. I have about 50 themes that are modified to suit the requirements and I pick one at random for each new site I build on.

Overuse of templates is a big problem with getting snapped and there are many people over the years going back to the doorway page days who were under the impression that the reason they were banned was template footprints. The issue is slightly lessened now with the vast number of Wordpress sites out there using the same themes, but it's definitely something to be aware of at all times.

"I know that it's quite a bit of a task" may just be the understatement of the year, if you're going to try to do the same sort of affiliate marketing as all the thousands (tens of thousands?) of others in that niche, and if you're going to be competing with them for search-engine traffic.

IF you have a completely non-competitive way into the niche, a business plan which doesn't depend on Google for your primary traffic, and an entirely unique/distinctive approach, then that's a different matter, of course. But without that, you're truly stacking the deck against yourself by choosing a specific activity with a minuscule overall success-rate.

No, not at all. I'd do the exact opposite: use articles as a way of attracting them to the pre-sell page, not sending them from the pre-selling page to the articles (how would that help?).

I promise I don't mean it impolitely, but I do think both the niche-selection and the business plan may need a little attention, here - and that "which Wordpress theme to use" kind of pales into insignificance, compared with those issues.

The free Twentyeleven Wordpress theme are even Graphene are highly customisable. I just posted a project on Scriptlance for a client and was mighty surprised that the developers were using Twentyeleven - they have completely changed its appearance and it is looking very good.

I have tried many themes over the years. Thesis, Woo, some free. I would suggest you to go for SEO optimized themes and what I have liked so far is Thesis theme since it is highly SEO optimized. The only issue I have with it is that, it needs a lot of Google searching if you wish to customize things in it (other than what comes out-of-the-box)

However if you can just start as of now and then get some free/paid thesis skins to your liking. There is a whole eco system around this theme.

Don't get too hung up over the theme - your visitors couldn't care less*

*as long as they can find what they're looking for!

(Although you didn't ask for this advice, if you're planning to getting into the weight loss niche by writing articles then you are going to be very disappointed. Here's the preachy bit: You are supposed to be internet marketing and that means doing market research. If you do that you'll discover that articles on weight loss are just not wanted. People looking to join programs, buy slimming pills, get exercise plans, find a new diet, etc. are sick to death of looking for information online and only finding blogs filled with articles**)

** 500 words of generic diet advice (burn more calories than you consume), empathy (I used to think it was hopeless too, until...), sales pitch (FatGo is the slimming supplement the stars use), etc. etc.

Pretty much the only way to go with a weightloss site is to:

    A) Be fat
    B) Go on a diet (Atkins, GI, WeightWatchers) | Take slimming pills | exercise
    C) Blog the results with pictures/videos/advice
    D) Join appropriate forums, Facebook groups, etc.
    E) Spend a year building yourself up as 'personality' (not celebrity just a blog people recommend)
    F) Overtly sell NOTHING. Adsense, Amazon, 'recommendations' not 'salespitches'.

Obviously it depends on how you want to drive traffic. If you want to do SEO, you should get the theme called "Thesis" or "ThemeMX" which are both VERY SEO friendly and will improve your rankings.

If you want to drive paid traffic, then I'd suggest OptimizePress, because there you can create high converting squeeze pages and sales pages by pushing a couple buttons and they will likely convert much higher than just a niche site with some articles on it.

    Hope that helps.

    I'm with Alexa here.

I think your focus is in the wrong area. I would go back to niche selection and keyword research as I beleive you could be setting yourself up for failure.

You can have the best, prettiest WP theme on your site however if you site does not rank and get traffic it will be a complete waste of weeks, maybe months of hard work!!

Fat Loss is a SUPER competitive niche loaded with some very talented IM marketers all viaing for the top 10 spots on the big G...

Just my opinion so feel free to thrwo it out the door...anyway...good luck my man!!

    Oh....back to your original question...

We use a host of themes dependant of what niche and style of website we need to create. However, Optimize Press is a good one to have in your IM toolbox - $97 bucks well spent IMO.
