You should probably use Odesk, Elance, or Warriors for Hire or other freelance sites and post a project and see what candidates you get and their qualifications.

How exactly are you getting work?

    1. You advertise yourself as XHTML 1.0 compliant, yet you're not.
    2. Your website doesn't display properly in Google Chrome - I haven't bothered trying any other browsers.
    2. At full maximisation on my resolution your website has a horizontal scrollbar.
    3. Your link in the bottom left does not exist.
    4. You're advertising your client's site (Petsplax | Home) as XHTML valid, when it isn't. I hope you didn't sell it to him on this basis.
    5. Your graphics look like they're from the 90s.

Sorry if you feel I'm being unduly mean - but I work in the web dev industry - and you're giving it a bad name. I assume you're extremely good at selling your skills. Perhaps you should outsource all of the web dev work and focus purely on the sales/leads?

Wow @richblogs, ok first off i have taken off the xhtml valid as yes you are right there as i do have some html5 elements within the website which have probably rendered the site none complient.

I have just checked my site in chrome and it looks fine to me although I will check my css but i normally make my sites with a width of 1024px so as to make sure that fit ok in all screens.

On point 3 I am wondering what link? i am assuming its my admin one.

as for petsplax yes ok my client has made a few changes himself and made the site none xhtml complient but I did say this to him.

as for getting work so far its been word of mouth and all of my clients have been very happy with the work I have done for them and yes I do code from scratch.

As for giving this industry a bad name I think not my friend as I have been teaching myself web development and design the past 4 years and have come to a point where I am getting some good work in

Also I think my graphics look ok and get the point across but thats my opinion. Thanks for your feedback

@Cass Tyson, No I am not trolling for traffic the point of this thread was to try and get someone out there so i can outsource some of my work

@Automaton yes there are a few in construction as I am currently engaged in completly redesigning the site

Thanks for the feedback all but I think some of you were quite harsh to me
      Kind Regards
      -Phillip

The opinions here don't really matter. What matters is that your customers are happy and they seem to be.

richblogs seems to be spot on. There are still a lot of pages in construction even though the website is not that new.

Just a quick reminder of the sticky post: no advertising in this forum, neither when looking for outsourcers nor for offering jobs!

Was just going to chime in what was said about you ignoring negative remarks that aren't constructive or helpful. If you're professional, doing your best and your clients are happy, you're on track, of course you can always improve, not sure I know anyone who's perfect--not even the late great Jobs--keep up any good work you're doing.

agreed he couldve been more constructive in his opinions however he is spot on with some of his comments...

hitting a page with a horizontal scroll bar and broken links isnt a good look bud and should really be addressed and since I too know the frustration of missing errors that a fresh look on a page will pick up I thought i'd look a little bit closer an identify some of the errors for ya, your css for both mastHeader and mastFader are set to a width of 1500px, have you tried working with percentage widths instead? and the link that was questioned is a simple typo.. link is "Graphic, Web and Logo Design, Sutton Coldfield Birmingham" and he link itself is mispelt.

that said im no graphics expert but dont see any problems with your graphics, probably was just looking to extend his list of hates to emphasize a shortcoming who knows, congrats on keeping at it

In answer to your initial question and im hoping this isnt advertising but it does border on it, use a freelancer, I often do this to meet deadlines I could never meet without them and its always a nice place to pick up extra work if you end up having some quiet periods of available work

As a designer with 4+ years of experience, I think that you should put more work into your design and usability. There is no reason that a website should be larger than 1000px wide. 1024px is not standard, but 960px is. You need to consider the fact that your clients and visitors may be using smaller monitors. Want to cater to all? Do some research on responsive design. I won't speak for your code, but I do think that maybe outsourcing your design would be a good idea. Not all developers can design, and not all designers can code.

I would not call yourself a graphic designer at all. Web Developer? Sure. Graphic Designer? Nope. A graphic designer is one with a deep understanding for elements of design (color theory, proximity, typography, etc) and that can translate those concepts onto the screen, in a pleasing and tasteful manner.

All in all, you must be doing something right if you have this overflow of work. Good luck!
