You read the title.
Both themes are good but the thing is pro review is not that seo friendly from one aspect that is URL's that this theme createes but it is search engine friendly as we can add informational articles to it. WP review theme it is really nicely coded simple theme and are very much seo friendly. But you can not add informational articles. I GUESS ...
If you know how to add external articles without them displaying on your main page without coding let me know.

If you cannot find a plugin that will allow you to add the articles the way you want, I would opt for the pro review theme as the articles will add to your ranking if these are unique and of high quality.

I own & use ProReview Theme and like many aspects of it.

However, their "Support" link at proreview.com takes you to a non-functional page, and although they have a Contact link on the bottom of their pages, I have sent many, many messages thru the Contact form that pops up, and never gotten a single response...all through 2011.

So if you want to ask specific questions or make special function/CSS changes to this theme, as I do, and you need a little support...fughedabotit!

But if you're OK with just using it as it comes, out of the box, it's one of the cleanest, easy to browse Amazon review themes you could ever want. It has one very weird choice, which is that its developers chose to add a whole 'nother posts "holder" in the Dashoard, called Reviews...and that's where all your ProReview built review posts go, NOT in "Posts", and you can't move them. So even if you put up 50 review pages, if you look in Posts in your Dashboard, you have 0 posts...there all in the Reviews section. This gives you a funny URL that includes the word ?review= in your permalink (possibly bad for SEO) and also doesn't allow you to make some of the same editing changes you could make if these were simply in Posts.

Wish they'd change that. Wish they'd respond to support questions. Wish I was 20 again . None of these things is likely to happen

I've recently started using the Pro Review theme, and although I can't yet tell if it's good for SEO or not, I will say it's one of the best-looking review themes I've ever seen. Pretty easy to customize too, which is a big plus for newbies and people who don't like messing with code too much.

About the word "?review=" showing up in the URL, u can change it to just "review"simply by changing how permalinks display, in the Wordpress dashboard. So basically the links will look like www[dot]example[dot]com/reviews/post-title. It's not perfect, but I guess it's better than the default version

Wasted my money on the pro review theme, it actually was vey cool, but the SEO is bad, there are lots of bugs, and because the owner sold the site/business, you get ZERO support - avoid!! Oh. and they won't refund you :-( Apart from that, it's awesome

The way I see it, you're probably better off starting with a Wordpress theme that has the layout and features you want, and then making whatever changes you desire in the course of building your review site. A theme doesn't have to be specifically labeled as a theme for reviews in order to be useful for that purpose.

I'm not convinced there's any important bugs or any way in which the on-page or off-page SEO will necessarily be bad for ProReview. I put up a few sites with them, made sure the on-page SEO was good (with things like Yoast) and did solid SEO campaigns with them, and they ranked well and made sales. I may do an A-B test with some sites selling similar items on well-SEO'd, non-ProReview themes, and see if they really rank or convert any better. I'll get back to those interested.

I agree, you could use any good theme for product reviews, and, properly styled, they can all work. I have successful product niche sites on popular free themes like iNove and Atahualpa, and some on Woo premium themes. They all look fine and convert fine. ProReview just so happens to have a super-clean layout and set of perfect-for-product-review graphic add-ons (through shortcodes) that I really like. If I could simply "import" its CSS/graphics/shortcodes into the CSS of one of those other themes, I'd have the perfect theme . I know some CSS, but I'm not quite good enough to "rebuild" a whole CSS/php, so I may hire a good theme coder to do it...anybody you guys might recommend?

Hi there, it's colleen here, the creator and owner of Wordpress Review Theme. I add articles as pages and add the page links to my sidebar and I also include links to the pages at the end of every article and I find that that works really well.

I think other users of my theme do that also.

    regards

    Colleen

Colleen, I own a few domains which I think could generate some good money as review sites. So here is my stupid question of the day...... How do you get people to leave REAL reviews when you have no traffic currently on your website?

Well Jeff you seem to have a number of questions there rolled into one and firstly it's traffic.

Okay with a new review site blog create each review post with the right on page seo - titles, h1 tags, images, even videos, tags etc. I get a lot of visitors to my site for the individual product names as well as the main domain name.

Of course you should submit your blog to rss sites for syndication.

with your individual product reviews that you add to your site rework them slightly and submit them to quality article directories, or rework them into press releases. You can also convert them into videos and submit them to video sites.

Social marketing is also very important so it's important to try and have twitter and facebook accounts or outsource some of this on twitter.

Regarding getting your visitors to leave reviews well this is targeting buyers after they have purchased rather than people you want to buy. I would personally focus on people looking to buy rather than after they have bought but you could add an articleon your site

The (name of the product) - What Are Your Thoughts After Buying

They can leave comments on your post or I believe there are plugins and themes that are set up for that.

    Hope that assists

    Kind regards

    Colleen

I purchased the Pro-review theme. It looks great but other than that it is worthless. The SEO is non existent. Review pages don't index. Lots of bugs.

Don't buy this piece of crap theme....

I've used both of these themes and there were things about both of them that I didn't care for. I have a background in internet marketing, design & development so I went to work on creating my own. What I came up with outperformed both of these and made a whole lot more sense to me. If anyone is interested, you can download it for free here.

Try it out and let me know how it works and if there are any parts of it I can change to make it better. I have been using it for the past year and it's worked out great for me but I would be happy to hear what others might think of it's performance, ease of use, etc.

    Thanks and hope this helps.

      Hi Fitnessmaster,

As a total newbie your theme is excactly what I have been looking for, again as a total newbie, is there anywhere I can find instructions on how to use it.

I know how to load a theme onto wordpress but the set up of the theme is something I have no experience with.

I have the proreview theme version 2.3 and I am not sure what everyone is talking about regarding it sucking and not being seo friendly, etc.

I have review pages ranking, you can use all in one seo pack on the review pages you just enable custom page types in the all in one seo pack settings and boom its on.

I have gotten decent email support from them too, so I also don't know why other people are being ignored.

It is a damn good theme and was recently updated, I love it. It looks awesome and has some great features.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally have made some decent earnings with my review sites, much of that is because my sites look really good due to the proreview theme.

Your experiences may be different but, speaking from lots of sites running this theme in lots of different niches, lots of pages indexed, I just don't get why people are hating on this theme.

Just had to chime in, hope it helps someone.

Hi guys, I'm on the fence with the pro review theme after reading this thread. I like it a lot because of it's features and looks but I don't know what is bad about the code, I know a little about seo and what plugins to use to optimize the theme but is optimizing it enough to make search engines like it? Can someone here point out what part of the code is bad?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Tim
