Problem with google ?

I have been having problems with my site and got some advice from the google help forum to re do my home page. My site at the time was on about page 15 in google search and about page 7 on yahoo search. I re did my home page like the said and my site went from page 15 to about page 8 in a couple days then it vanished and I haven't seen it for over 2 weeks. At the same time this happened my site went from page 7 in yahoo to page 1 for some search terms and page 2 for many others. A week later I finely went into webmaster tools and clicked on my default site meaning WWW or non WWW. Since my site and everything I have ever done with it I have always put WWW I thought this made sense. My question is since I haven't seen my site in google for weeks after making there suggested change and since I am so far up in Yahoo should I change my home page back to what it was to see if my site shows back up in google or just not worry about it since it is well up there in yahoo. My site is over 2 years and had been between page 12 and 15 in google search for well over 6 months and after the panda update it moved up to page 10 for over a month then all of a sudden it was all over the place. That is when they suggested changing my home page and it made things much better in Yahoo but really bad in google. I have never really liked or used Google but know there important whey trying to get treffic so it is something we all need to deal with no matter how bad they are. thanks Mark

    Have you built any backlinks? Onpage seo alone doesn't cut it in most cases, unless your keyword is very low competition.
  • No it seem's no issue with google if you are not doing any seo for your website. If you have left your website as it is for natural traffic then you cant get high rank. As in you case you must try to hire a good SEO expert to get high rank and to improve your position in google.
  • recently near about a month google changes near about 10 algorithms in their server and search engines for thebetter and fast result with creative output.
  • Let me ad some more information since it seems like from the answers I am getting don't seem on topic. First i have done a lot of seo and when checking it on sites that check for seo I am always showing very high. Also I have over 500 backlinks I know it isn't a lot but that's what I have. Also the changes that google help forum suggested was only for the text nothing else so that is all i changed. Also my home page has a page rank of 3 not great but not that bad either. Not sure what else I could ad to make things a little more clear except to say again that the site was on about page 12 in search results not great but it is better then page 75. And again after I made the changes google forum suggested my site went form page 12 to page 8 then vanished. And again my site is on page 1 and 2 for many keywords on Yhaoo and has been there for over 3 weeks now. Thanks for any additional help I can get. Mark

    • your site has not been removed from google. i found it just now on page ten for your keywords of italian travel vacation site. certain pages have been SANDBOXED and google will let them populate the results as they see fit.

    outsourcing and backlinks are the key to success in SEO. Especially after the panda update, on site SEO alone will not get youur site where you need it to be. Though it is still vital. A lot of my sites were on page one and suffered greatly after the panda update.

    • Same here. We saw some clients fall from grace as of the last Panda update. Most of those sites had fewer backlinks but had benefited from social bookmarking regimens. Once some quality backlinks were added through some basic article marketing, those sites bounced back.

  • Thought I would let everyone know that about a month after I changed my home page and it not showing up at all since changing it, it finely showed up on page 2 of google which is up about 10 pages from it's highest point in the past. I was thinking because I changed my home page so much that maybe google was looking at it as if it were a new page but it is back and better then ever. I don't know how long is will stay there because we all know google but hope it will be there for a long time and hope I can do more to get it to page one. Thanks for all the help and ideas. Mark
