duplicate content problem

I had a problem that I was hoping to get some insight into.

I used SEOmoz to audit my website and they alerted me to duplicate content. I fixed the following issues.

a 301 from www . mydomain to just mydomain

a 301 form mydomain/index . html to just mydomain

I believe i still have duplicate content resulting from

mydomain . com/ and mydomain . com

what would be the best way to fix this in your opinion?

I am SOO sorry its so chopped up and hard to read, if i don't seperate everything like that it won't let me post because I am not allowed to post links yet.

  • fixed it, in case anyone else has the same problem I will outline what worked for me.

I tried doing 301's to fix the duplicate content but it got ALL screwed up, everything ended up landing on the home page, screwing up my links and all that

the fix for me was to fix it in the httaccess file and then do a 301 from /index.html to just my domain. hope this helps someone someday.

Thanks for the explanation bud. This will ensure others solve their problems with ease. Thanks again friend
  • I had a similar problem. Unlike you i wasnt able to fix it myself. I'm sure it was happening on my home page.
Had to pay someone though. Have taken notes for next time.

    Regards
