Say Goodbye to Firebug

If you haven't tried it yet, checkout the new developer tools in Firefox 10... They absolutely rock.

While your at it take a couple of minutes to watch their intro video, it's well worth it.

These FF tools are going to make dynamic site development much easier.

Infact, I've been using Dream Weaver for years, and now am looking for a slimmed down full powered alternative.

Any Suggestions?

Cheers

The Fire Fox 10 Developer tools make the use of Firebug redundant, and I actually like them better for helping to find what elements to target.

My question was tagged on as a second thought, which apparently confused the whole topic. Thanks for pointing this out.

What I'm wondering is what you may suggest to use in lou of Dream Weaver to compose the html and CSS.

I've got a demo version of Text Mate but wonder if there is a better editor for Mac.

    Cheers

Honestly, nothing compares to Dreamweaver in my opinion. Just simplify your layout work area presets, to adapt to the type of work you are doing.

I do not believe that there is anything comparable to dreamweaver, its the industry standard for web coding and design.

Of course you could use notepad++ if you just want to code manually. It works well, and is very lite.................. I use a combination of dreamweaver, notepad++ or notepad, and sometimes, when I am stumped I use firebug to find a certain element.... thats pretty much it, unless you are doing php, then I am sure you will need something else, although, I have heard dreamweaver cs5 handles php coding, but I have not tried it? I could be wrong...

You mean people posting just to get link juice to their signature area? That seems to be normal in this area as of late.

Thanks for the update on Firefox 10, I will try it out sometime....

    Hi Steve,

I agree with you, it's just that DW seems to devour my ram and eat processors for lunch.

I'm just looking for a lighter weight alternative to use when the job doesn't require cranking DW up.

I'm mainly a content creator and promoter so I have a tendency to forget my nomenclature and CSS options, and that's one reason that I really like DW.

Not sure what to think of Text Mate. Apparently they are working on a major update but the tutorials are nearly none-existent.

    Thx

Good info for all. Firebug is a multi-purpose addon that has come in handy over my time working online.

Thanks Shunyata, for posting this, I was using old version of Firefox because Firebug is not supporting latest version. Now I can use latest version of Firefox.

I think the "Developer Tools" in new Firefox needs some tweaking. Firebug is still my preferred option due to its easier interface.

I still love Firebug, I doubt any tool will ever completely replace it for me. I've seen alternatives and none are comparable.

The 'Web Developer' tools in Firefox are cool, but it doesn't quite compare to Firebug (at least not yet). Great to see Mozilla progressing in this area though!
