Graphics used in IM are all the same ?

Hello everyone,

I know there is something with the graphics people use when they sell something. There are some stereotypes that are used by everyone. I guess there is a specific reason.

I am searching for a topic to read, a book, a research about things that work in graphic design when it comes to marketing. We can all see the handwritten font, the yellow "Buy Now" button, the impact red font. I want to know why is it all that ? Why people use them, why they are good, why these things increase sales ?

I couldn't find here something about that, or to be honest, I don't know what keywords to type for a good search.

Thank you

Hi Shack, just wanted to drop a quick note regarding this, some points may be generic, but maybe it will help!
1- Color theory. there are different colors that will help 'push' a certain response or that represent particular actions, or even niches. Example would be solar energy. Usually brigther greens, blues, outdoorsy images are used.
    - bolding fonts, using darker fonts will highlight things that you want the readers to focus on. italics are often used as well. Highlighting
    - please note that most graphic designers are developing designs according to their client specifications, a designer needs to help the client with their vision, not the designers vision.
    - the elements of any good minisite design in IM should remain the same, the way they are displayed changes according to trends, personal preferences, and so on.
we all know that the top third of a site is the most important and so on. Standard design.Certain fonts read better than others etc etc
I don't think there is one set way to do every project, though the basics stay the same.

I checked your ebook portfolio, I see you use coveractionpro 1.0 for paperbacks. Do you see on some of your spines how the lines are off kilter? If you flatten the photoshop image before running the action, this normally will eliminate that problem. Just so you know!

Thanks for the tip, didn't know that !

I agree with your points, I am also thinking the same generally, but I was wondering why all the sales pages look exactly the same. I don't think that Impact font is the best one out there, but rather there is a trend that everyone follows, a specific design type and I think it is working, marketers are making more sales because it catches people. I want to know why...

Maybe I am searching for a research report regarding graphics in marketing.

Anyway, thanks for your post, it made me explain better why I started this thread.

These are nice tips you posted here. Dark colors for font colors really catch people's attention so we better stick to it.

Also, thanks for starting this thread. I am looking forward for more tips.
