Just wondering where your favorite places are to get images for your blogs or websites?

Currently getting some via Flickr using the creative commons search, but I don't always find what I am looking for.

Currently I am not in a position to be buying images istock or the like, but would be more than willing to do that once I have some income established.

Some of the other supposedly "free" sites tend to give you a limited selection of junk images, get what you pay for I guess. However would be grateful if there are any suggestions of places to look.

My favorite is stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site

If you use their photos, make sure to read each photo's individual terms. Sometimes there are special requirements.

Images you can produce yourself are always an option too!
You don't need to be a professional graphic artist or a photographer to create some good images for your web site.

I did check that site out some time ago but didn't find it to be all that great, will have another look.

Main issue I had with that site is that when I did a keyword search for images it would give you a small selection of often irrelevant images. Right underneath those you would find lots of great images that were exactly what you were looking for but all those ones cost $$. Reeks of bait n switch tactics to me.

Since my personal blog isn't making a dime at this time I really need to find public domain or creative commons stuff at this time.

But I will check it out again, maybe someone has some tips for digging out good images?

Edit: I stand corrected, maybe the first time I looked I was just searching wrong, this time around I did find some useful images.

It's pretty much hit and miss with sxc.hu, i.e. some keywords will have good images others won't. But I find it's the best free option too.

Another place to check is Wikimedia Commons, which has more than 12 million freely usable media files. Since anyone can (and apparently does) post images, some are very good and many are truly awful, but I have found some decent photos when I needed them.

You might try the media catalog that comes with MS Office. Check out the license info first, but I still use MSOXP and most items are free to use if you legally own the program.

Flickr is the largest use submitted photo collection on the net. While you can use most of the images without worry about royalty or commercial use restrictions, some of them do carry some restrictions and generally you have to give credit to or link to the images on Flickr. The upside is obviously its huge database, so it's not one to overlook.

That's nonsense... every image has copyright owner - and you should read their terms before making such claims!

...and that's a lie. Simply, not true.

Free are for personal use. You probably want to use that on your powerpoint or something but I would suggest to rather purchase the images so that you will have no further problem in the future. There are a lot of sites that offer cheaper or probably a bunch of images suitable for your need.

I think you'll find this thread useful: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-pictures.html

As mentioned, always make sure you read the terms and conditions of using images to avoid problems.

    All the best
