Hello everyone,
I created a blog on tablet pc's which is now gaining momentum. Since i am not a very good designer i decided to get WP premium theme for it. But the main problem with the theme is that it takes too much time to load. Performance of my Blog is hampered by the high loading time. Can you please suggest me any theme which is better for a gadget blog. I had read about Thesis, Frugal, Genesis and each of them claims to be best.

My priorities are :

1) Fast loading time

2) Optimum use of graphics for a tech blog.

3) SEO friendly.

I will be very grateful to anyone who can share there views. Thanks
#frugal #genesis #thesis

I love thesis it's really flexible and professional looking but it isn't cheap so you have to dig deep to use it, but i think it's definitely worth it.

      Another vote for Thesis.

It's the best investment I've ever made.

      I'd check it out.

I've never used or seen Frugal. Thesis is awesome and used very often around the web. Also consider checking out Catalyst Theme. It's a nice customizable and fast framework like Thesis is. Good luck!

Frugal is no more. Has been replaced with the Catalyst for more than a year now. Have been and still am using all three themes you mentioned. Love them all but when it comes to customization, Catalyst is the way to go. Has one click options for almost anything you want to customize. Screenshots of the available options can be viewed here: blogigs.com/catalyst-screenshots

I currently use Thesis on one of my sites (Jersey Jets Fan) and Genesis on my other (BROcrastinator).

They're both very comparable but I favor Genesis because it has a larger variety of child themes available for free and purchase.

I love Genesis Theme, I prefer Genesis over all other paid themes. If you want fully featured free WordPress theme then try Mystique theme.

Thanks warriord for your views i had opted for thesis and really loving the amount of flexibility it provided. My adsense CTR is increased now which more then i used with HEATMAP theme thus i am making more money now. Another considerable thing was that my rank has improved after installing the theme, i think its because of selective use of link juice (it makes tag as no follow) another cool feature is the category feature which is awesome my one category page rank in top 5 with just about 200 words article for a good search volume keyword without any backlinking. I just love this theme. If anyone having same confusion as mine then i would say go for thesis without any further confusion.

I'm a developer that has always done custom XHTML/PHP sites. I'm starting to get more requests from people wanting simple sites for them to be based on WordPress so they can easily edit and add content pages for their business site.

I'm also planning on doing some product brand enthusiast sites for SEO purposes.

I've read a lot of discussions about Genesis and Thesis but there are usually two problems in the responses. Either 1) people commenting only have extensive experience with one or the other so they really can't contrast the two, or 2) most people using these themes are looking to avoid any coding or having to learn CSS, etc.

Some may say, well since you are a developer, you don't even need these frameworks, but I think it would be useful to base our Wordpress sites on one of them should a client decide to 'go it allow' with managing their site including the layout and design. For my clients though they will be original designs. Not some theme that anyone else can purchase and then just change a few colors/fonts and the basic layout. For the enthusiast sites they can be various cookie cutter themes. Don't have to be original designs.

I've read one advantage of Genesis (which many don't point out because they aren't developers) is that unlike Thesis, if you upgrade WordPress and/or the framework you don't have to re-install your customizations because you can just modify a child theme. Where Thesis you have to backup files and reinstall them.

Anyone with more of a technical perspective that has used both can comment on how the compare. Of the people commenting that have experience with only one or the other, you're always going to see more recommending Thesis simply because it has been around longer. Older isn't necessarily better.

However I'm concerned that I see some consistency in comments saying Thesis has better on-page SEO capabilities (and results) although can't you use a plug-in with thesis (like Yoast SEO) to overcome any SEO limitations for Genesis or does the latest Genesis version have built-in SEO functions that are now as good or better than Thesis?

Thesis is best because it provides you most flexibility to CODE CSS and to create even custom functions. Its not a just a ready made theme its framework and provides you lot of functionality.
If you can code its not a thesis theme anymore it will become anything you want with just few lines of code without any difficulties.

Regarding using plugins for On Page SEO i had used many plugins with other themes for SEO but none of them has better results like this secondly i had faced a huge slowdown due to resource hungry plugins. My site now uses just a single plugin after thesis i.e Google sitemap generator rest all is coded manually even social bookmarks links are provided manually and now my site load 3 times faster than before.

      Thats why its its awesome

NOTE : I am not a affiliate to this theme and neither i am promoting this at all i am just sharing what i have experienced.

I have used both Thesis and Genesis and hands-down, prefer Genesis.

@consultant1027 Yes, Genesis does have built-in SEO that is quite good. However, if you prefer to use an SEO plugin like Headspace2 or All in One SEO; then it disables the Genesis SEO so all plays nicely together.

I would choose Genesis, though it is not as fast loading theme as thesis, but correctly configured hosting can compensate that.

Well, I have been looking into Thesis recently and from what I can tell its all just hype. In reality, Thesis doesn't use the best SEO practices, it doesn't use accepted WordPress coding practices, removing the branding from the theme costs extra, there's no way to ask pre-purchase questions (no contact form), and the creator of the theme refuses to let his customers disable the theme's SEO options and use plugins like WordPress SEO by Yoast for SEO instead.

Also, many people still use Thesis because they have too... once you use it for your blog you're stuck with the theme.

Thesis is probably my favourite. In terms of SEO, it destroys Genesis in every way, shape and form. For speed, Thesis is extremely lightweight, but I've never really noticed any speed differences between a site running Genesis and Thesis of the same pageweight - they're generally the same.

In general, though, I recommend Thesis - it's served me a far better experience than any other theme I've ever touched.
