How To Customize This Social Sharing Plug-in

I've just installed the Twitter Facebook Social Sharing Plug-in and added it to my blog.
You can see it here at the top of the post:

I'd like to customize the buttons so that they appear more like the buttons on the page below with the counter above the button.
Make a Homemade Face Mask That’s Perfect For Your Skin Type
Can anyone advise me as to how to do this?
Do I need to use CSS? I have no idea how to do that so if you cold point me to a handy online guide that would be fantastic.
