Optimizepress Question

I am thinking of buying Optimize press and I was wondering can you replace your existing wordpress theme with Optimize press and not loose any of your content, comments and banners that are already on your site?

My site is primarily used as a blog but I need to install Optimize press as I have some big ideas for the blog that I need Optimize press for.

Any advice would be much helpful.

Thank you,
Sean

    Hi Sean,

All your content should be fine. Do a backup first for safety.

The thing you need to watch out for is your META data on the posts.
If you have been using an external plugin like 'Platinum SEO' you should
    be fine.

But if you have been using one that is built in to the theme (like Optimizepress) then it may have issues.

    Hope this helps.

      Sure did help, thanks.

So do I just buy and download optimizepress then upload it via the wordpress dashboard, like you would any other theme?

Or is there more to it than that?

You upload the theme to your site like any other but it does take some setting up once you've installed it. James provides tons of great video tutorials inside the members area but I would suggest that you try it out somewhere other than your live site for the first time.

You will keep all of your content and comments but you may lose the banners that are currently showing depending on how they are integrated. You might want to look at installing OptimizePress on a subdomain if your mainly using your site as a blog to keep things separate.

Alternatively you could use a plugin like 'Premise' which lets you continue using your existing theme over the majority of your site with separate landing pages having their own style. And the final avenue to explore would be using WordPress Sales Page Templates (not themes). These can be installed to any theme and will allow you to present a completely different appearance for certain pages without adding a complicated sales page plugin to the mix.

OP takes a good hour to figure out how the membership stuff works, and about another 2-3 hours to play with all the pages and functions and another 2 or so hours if you want to play with the funnels and whatnot so yeah I would set it up on another domain until you get the feel of it

All and all about 4 hours to get comfortable with it

Optimize press was a great investment. Congratulations on getting access. Its great for many things: squeeze pages, sales pages, membership sites and product launch sequences. Great product!
