Hi guys,

I want to make a pretty static webpage. It doesn't have to be very fancy. I just want to try and figure out if wordpress.com would suit my needs or if I should take the extra time and effort to use the software at wordpress.org

Any comments would be appreciated :-)

    Not "at"... but "from" wordpress.org

Since you are posting in a marketing forum, I guess you are planning to make money.
Obviously, you didn't read the TOS at wordpress.COM: "no commercial use". That should solve your non-existent dilemma. Wordpress.com is NOT for marketers.

Finally, for a static webpage you don't need a CMS - use plain HTML.

Well the website is not actually for me. It's my friend who wants a webpage for his villa that he rents out - but yes you're right that does answer my question thanks.

I already have a static plain html website, but I'd read a lot of advice from people saying that even for an essentially static site, wordpress is still the way to go.

As your friend wants to use the site for renting out a villa, she surely needs a contact form. WordPress will allow you acct contact option easily.
