Wordpress - Creating Multiple Sites for Resellers

Hello, I have been using webs.com for some time now, which is proving too limited.

I'd like to create a website which would allow me to sell various services, update the rates and make any edits freely.

As I run a marketing agency I have many resellers.

Is it possible to duplicate one website multiple times using wordpress.org?
I'd need one for each of my resellers, and as new resellers sign up to my program I'd like to simply duplicate the website under their own domain.

I would have control of the 'Master' website.
When I update the master website it should also update the websites of my resellers automatically, adjusting rates etc.

Please let me know if this is possible.
Thank You.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for.

Are you looking to just clone the sites? Or do you need to be able to control them as well?

      Clone them.

Then once I update one of them, they all update.

Maybe look at Drupal as the CMS with the Domain Access contrib module. There are other contrib modules that also work in conjunction with Domain Access. I've been using Drupal for several years now.

        Hi, Cosmas,

I have been looking for sth like wordpress multisite and read and heard great things about it, starting with Istvan Horvath...

Not being a techie, I find the installation directions on wordpress org to be quite simple, but could you please point me to some free resource where the funtions, benefits and structure of the network are described in detail, in order to convince my client that this is his best solution?

        Thank you,
        Kind regards,
        Tom

          "Best solution" for what?

The MultiSite (MS) feature in itself is not good for anything... unless you know how do you want to use it

We have no idea what your client wants... so we cannot advise you what is the best solution for him.

            hi, istvan,

your 100% right, my bad, sorry!

my client just wants to build a network of blogs under the same domain, each of them on a separate subdomain.

so i am convinced that wp multisite is a very good solution for him and actually sold him today after asking him to take a closer look at wordpress.com (why didn't i think of that before?)!

so do you agree that this is the best solution for my client, istvan?

            kind regards,
            tom

For that kind of setup WP MS is the perfect solution

The other way around: not even 5% is possible using WP.

WP is NOT the tool for what you want.

IMO, WordPress is the best solution to "build a network of blogs under the same domain".

It sounded like you might want to charge for access to start a blog/site on the network, which is possible using the Paid Memberships Pro plugin and it's Multisite Network plugin:

If you don't have any experience with WordPress and/or you're not a developer yourself looking to learn, you should look into getting developer help. This is true if you use Drupal or another CMS as well. IMO, WordPress is the most user friendly CMS to learn.

You will probably be in good shape to run the network yourself after it's setup, but I don't know of any great newbie-friendly howtos for setting up the network site itself.

    Good luck.
