Hey everyone,

To all those wordpress users out there, I just wanted to get some input as to what everyone thinks is the best theme to use for affiliate marketing. The theme can be either free or paid, since I am willing to spend some money on it.

Thoughts??

I have heard that Thesis is a good one, but I have not actually seen what it looks like.

I further support the THESIS theme! Although I also use OPTIMIZE PRESS and that's really impressive too.

Flexibility is good if you're doing blogging.

Optimizepress is good if you're doing squeeze pages and sales pages.

Has anyone had any luck with PageLines? I've been testing for a while and seen some decent rankings for competitive terms.

I would do thesis if I can afford it. But, if its free then I would just start with woo themes.

My personal favourite is the Genesis framework from StudioPress with the Lifestyle child theme.

One thing about thesis is that it is just a framework. You still have to do customization (change css) to get it to look the way you want. I have a developers license of thesis. I think elegant themes would be your cheapest route 39.00 per year and you can use any of their themes (60+)

I use two themes... Thesis for my main money sites (ie. my blogs) and optimize press for my squeeze pages, sales pages, and content delivery.

I doubt I'll ever stray from these two, they work exceptionally well.

      Hi PaulyC. Tina here.

I'm just wondering: do I need to know CSS or html to use thesis? I would really love to know. After purchasing template software for $130, I just spent one month building a site on another template (artisteer) that I can't upload.

Before I buy another template, I'd sure like to know if I can use it without knowing CSS or html. Thank you so much!

In terms of advertising Heatmap theme for WordPress is good for Adsense and widgetized ads.

I use Pagelines on some of my blogs. Its good for tech, modern style sites.

However I find that the best thing to do when wanting a wordpress theme is to do searching through wordpress theme sites. There are literally thousands of them, both free and paid. I say this because you probably have an idea in mind what you want your site to look like roughly and may see a theme that you like and think that will go well for your site.

I know it sounds stupid but I have spent weeks searching for the right template I'm happy with for some of my sites. Installing many and finding out despite looking good at first it doesn't work how I want it to in some way or something. For me its either been that, buy one or make your own. Hope to give you some help.

    Mike.

In my opinion, Catalyst is better. But, that's just me...

You can make Catalyst look like any other theme.
It has a built-in CSS Builder.
The upcoming version will have some additional "mobile-friendly" features.

If they integrated some OptimizePress-style sales page features, it would be perfect.

Depends on what you're marketing exactly, and what your goals are. I love the recent 'Notebook' theme that just came out on Themeforest recently. It's currently one of my favorites. It's simplistic but professional.

I like and use Builder from iThemes. Not free, but it's good.

When I was new to WordPress, I was not about to use a mere framework, like Thesis, when I had no idea how to flesh it out.

For affiliate marketing, Thesis - if you can handle the learning curve and cost. If aesthetics are not that important to you, you don't have to do that much customization. There are also thesis themes - free and paid) floating around.

Ithemes Builder is handy, if you want to use a lot of widgets for ads etc.

I personally use Thesis theme for my affiliate sites.

The code is very "clean" so it is great for SEO purpose and Google likes it. Furthermore, it is very easy to use.

The only downside is the cost - $167.

OptimizePress costs $97 and it is great for squeeze page, sales page etc....

You might consider getting a piece of software like Artisteer and creating your own theme. The software is very easy to use and you can set everything up exactly how you want it.

I checked out Optimize Press and I like that one a lot, thanks to anyone who mentioned that.

It seems like many people like the thesis theme, especially for affiliate sites. Seems to be one of the cleanest, most professional looking ones.

Genesis - I've worked a lot with this framework and I love it
Thesis - I've done just basic things but I know that many people prefer this framework

A two page theme with simple colors will be sufficient enough for this purpose. One page is to advertise affiliate program and other is for the contact info.
You don't need any columns or sidebars for the website.
Just use a simple color theme. I will prefer a free theme as there are a lot out there.

I would say Optimizepress is a good theme for Affiliate Marketing or if you have your own products.
