Hi Guys,

Sorry for the over dramatic title, I really want some professional opinions on the new website I've done for my web design company before I SEO it.

Be honest, I really don't mind people telling me the truth.

Cheers,

Dougie

The design is great, but I agree that their is too much spacing. It works well when you click on the links above, however when scrolling it really shows... How about just putting those on pages instead.

The design of the pages look ok, but it is probably a bad idea to cram 3 pages in the homepage, and this is really unnecessary, as people will just click on the link above if they want to see that page. Too large a page will cause it to load slowly in the clients browser, and users may lose their sighting while scrolling through the page. You are left with obvious disadvantages.

I wouldn't have supported those comments but those mistakes could cost you some clients. They would expect you to know all these

I love your design, just don't like that it's all on one page though, it was a lot of scrolling until i realized I could just hit the links at the top and it would take me immediately to that portion of the page

So.....when you did the design for bar 292 did you trade design work for booze? Will work for beer? lol j/k I like your work keep it up

The overall design is really nice, good use of colour etc but I agree with the others... far too much spacing.

One other thing- there's a typo in the skills section: "Talk to our geks". Check out what Geks actually means: www.urbandictionary.com Although perhaps this is actually what you meant :p lol.

      All the best

        Cheers Sev.

I've now created seperate pages for each of the sections due to popular opinion - I think I was a little too excited over the scrolling feature.

loved the reference to urban dictionary! More useful than the proper one!

Thanks for the feedback. I've now seperated out all the pages - I think I was a little to excited over the scrolling page haha.

I get a free pint when I pop in

Seems like the main contents' font size is too small. Someone wrote a blog article saying that 16px font is good.
Google this: 16 PIXELS For Body Copy. Anything Less Is A Costly Mistake

    Probably a good read.

That's an interesting article, along with the comments. I haven't read all of it yet, and I've only skimmed through the first page of comments. But I've saved it for future reading.

I have to admit that the overall premise did shock me a bit because, like many of the commenters, I didn't think that using pixels was the best approach to sizing fonts on a web page - I have read for several years now that percentages or ems are best.

I like the looks of it. I'm far from a pro, but here's what I would do:

    1. Get a FB/Twitter if you want to do the "Follow Us" thing. You have social media services, but don't have any listed for yourself.

    2. Scrap the "Our Skills" section rating. You might lose a client if they see you lack skills in illustrator. Some people may not even know what illustrator is, so if you're not the expert in everything web design, they'll move on. Anything that you guys can't do, remember it can be outsourced.

    3. Do some articles/blog. It helps your potential clients to get to know Caffeine 19. Out of ALL the designers around, why do I want to work with you guys? Give me something to read to make me want to fill out that contact form and stop looking for anyone else. Plus, it will give you some content on the site to work with for SEO.

    4. Arrange your "Services" differently. The first thing I saw was the "design for print" Awesome service, but people are coming to get websites. Catch their eye. I'd put the free consultation in it's own area to really stand out.

    5. Increase your portfolio. Register some domains and build some sites to just show off. With 4 sites, people might be a little hesitant to hire you

Anyways, like i said, I'm no pro but that's what I was thinking. Hope someone can come along and either tell me I don't know what I'm talking about or agree with me to give you some reinforcement and advice I'm trying do the same thing as you are and I'm jealous you have much more to show off than me!

He forgot to put it in his first post so if you scroll down, he has the link (third post in this thread).
