Please critique my site, before I go blind!

Hi fellow Warriors, I'm just about to embark on my new business. I have been working diligently on my site (trying to make sure everything's ship-shape and Bristol fashion) and I think I may have site blindness, I've been engrossed in it for such a while.

Any objective viewpoints would be welcome - Mobile Website Services

Thanks awfully,

Ray

the layout looks good to me but I would put some more text in where you have the location map. The video is good and explains allot, and is very good, but some additional information would be good also. Take the location map out.

Hi there. I know exactly what you mean by site blindness... But it looks pretty good to me!

I liked the intro video, not so crazy about the video on the learn more page. That one seems a bit drawn out and by the end I forgot what it was about. That might be a personal problem though.

I agree with the comment above regarding the map on the homepage. It really doesn't add any useful information. How about replacing it with something like the top three of your "TEN GOOD REASONS YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS A MOBILE OPTIMIZED WEBSITE?" Then spend a couple sentences explaining each point.

Although I did not really read the copy, I think it's a bit text heavy overall. Shortening the line length would make it easier to read (increase the margins on both sides would be one way). I'd rather focus on the main points and then discuss everything else once the client initiates contact, but I don't know, maybe it's necessary.

I really like the example showing the original site in a browser, then on a smart phone, and then the mobile version. It really illustrates your point nicely - but it takes some navigation to get to. Maybe something like that could be implemented on the homepage...

Lastly, I'd simplify the contact form for the free quote. How about getting rid of the 6 boxes collecting address info? You can get that info later and removing them would cut the fields in half. This could just be me, but I hate Captcha's. I never use them initially, it can always be implementated if form spam becomes an issue.

Oops, one more thing. The Javascript validation in your footer is missing some text. It says, "You forgot to enter your ." for each field.

Hopefully some of this is useful to you, good luck!

Hi Guys, I have to agree with both of you. I'd been meaning to lose the address field in the quote form, but tsk, never got round to it and then forgot! Done it now, though.

Shady Ray, I'm not sure what you mean by, "The Javascript validation in your footer is missing some text. It says, "You forgot to enter your ." for each field."

        Cheers lads, anyway.

Hey raycowie, what I was referring to was the text that pops up if you don't correctly fill in the form. Just click send on a blank form and you should see what I mean. The error messages just aren't completed, I imagine it's a plugin option. Sorry, I notice this kind of petty crap.

Yes, but I'm also a perfectionist, so thanks for the tip, it's much appreciated.

After you 2s comments I went back and changed a lot, because you were both right. I think it looks much neater now (less definitely is more).

            Thanks again,

            Ray

Hey Ray - it looks great! Awesome improvement!

One thing you might want to check is the aspect ratio of your images under the video. They're looking a bit squished.

Ok, last thing! I tried scanning the QR code in your footer and it won't register. I'm using an iPhone 4s and RedLaser app. The QR code on my site's contact page scans in just fine and I think they're about the same size... So I don't know what's up there.

Thanks again Erik. Again you were right about those pesky images, so I sorted that out and changed the QR Code, which as far as I can tell works okay, now.

                Good karma coming your way.

                Cheers,
