Making A Mini Site....Don't Know Where To Start

Hi. I am a music producer with my own business which sells Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Rock beats online.

I had an idea recently to take all of my old, unused instrumentals, throw them into a zip file and make a mini-site to sell them all to artists for one good price.

I would like to set up a one-page mini site for my idea. I would like the site to include the following:

1. Audio Clips of samples of the instrumentals
2. A video
3. Artwork depicting the product as a CD or DVD cover
4. An autoresponder set up to send 2 free instrumentals to those who subscribe
5. I would like for the customer to be able to purchase the Zip file of instrumentals from the mini site, and after purchase automatically have a link sent to them to download their zip file. I would like for the download link to somehow change for each customer, so the link cannot be shared. (is this possible?)

And of course all of the text copy.

Could someone point me in the right direction to set up a site like this?

Any info, GOOD e-book recommendations, online tutoritals, or service recommendations greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim

    Hi Tim,

I am not sure about your web developing skills.
What you need is a professional design and a minisite that can convert.

If you would like to get the job outsourced, send me a PM.

    Rgds,

    Stephen

I agree that you need a professional to set up the site.

The downloads can be handled through a site such as E-Junkie. The autoresponders can be sent through any service such as AWeber, ConstantContact, etc.

But, the site... you're talking about a mini site that will dazzle your visitors. It's worth investing in a professional design.

It looks like you will need

        1. Graphics/Web Designer
        2. PHP Programmer.

This is a simple job to implement.

I would write up a specification for the graphics and web design, and another of the implementing the script. Post these requests for a quote on

        1. Elance.com
        2. Guru.com

In fairness and to make your life simple I would use dlguard to handle the payment and download link. It will also handle basic membership as well.

Once you selll a few of these products commission some more tracks with the profits and send them out monthly to members.

I hope this helps a little

    Tim,

Before you design your site - let me ask you this.
How will I find your site if I were to search for your music on google?

yes...website starts with 'keyword' research and a goal
Will it be 'r&b music with resale rights' ?
obviously not - but you get my point...keyword research first and then website.

feel free to get in touch if you wish get a free consultation.

Awesome thanks for all the info everyone. I have some experience with Dreamweaver and have made a little sales page before. I never finished it though, and don't have any experience setting up an autoresponder or payment system (aside from Paypal).

I plan to outsource the graphics and some of the programming, but I want to at least make an attempt at setting the page up in Dreamweaver.

Are graphics a good place to start?

Yes. Once someone has a colour system etc started, then a copywriter etc can write based on the mood and style of that that design. Definately outsource the videos and graphics first!

      hi tim,

just little advice(only for create a minisite design;p)

if you want to create a minisite, first time you need to know
what the image you need, and then choose the color,

after you have 2 "item"(image and color)
please imagine the design what you want(like layout or anything)

and then, lets do play with your photoshop

      hope this can be useful

      thanks and regards,
