Ways to let customers finish a form later

The man who repairs my computer has a customer whose visitors are logged into his site. They are filling out a form. He wants them to be able to click 'complete form later' and have the data remain in the form fields.

Please suggest possible solutions both with saving the data on the visitors computer and storing it on the server so that a customer could return to fill in the form from a different computer and login and not have to start filling out the form from square1.

    To save it on the users machine you would accomplish it with cookies. On the server side you would have to tie the answers to a login ID and have them stored in a flat file or a database.

      Can the server side way be done with WordPress plugins or does it need custom JavaScript or something else?
