Problems When Installing Custom Made Wordpress Theme WP Experts Please Help!

Hi WP experts!

I have had a custom wordpress theme designed for my blog and when installing the theme via the wordpress admin panel I am met with the following error:

Unpacking the package...

Installing the theme...

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

Anyone have an idea what the problem is and how this can be fixed?

    The screenshot is way too small to read anything.

    In any case, this happens when the theme is not properly zipped or unpacked.

    The theme has been uploaded as a zip file so im guessing it hasn't been zipped properly before I have downloaded it?

    I've found in some cases, themes are inproperly zipped and there's an extra folder inside. Try unzipping it first and upload it via FTP.

    I have just looked in the custom theme and for some reason the designer has left in a themes folder that has over 100 other themes in that folder?

    Surely that can't be right?

    The size of the zipped file is 56,544 Kb and that to me seems way to big for any theme.

      Indeed a theme size of 57 MB does sounds fishy.

    1. It's time to have a serious discussion with your designer...

    2. I never use that uploader from inside wp-admin. Just saying. The good old method of unzipping on my computer and uploading via FTP is the best. Proof: you wouldn't have to post this is you used the common sense method...

    3. After sorting out that you have 100 other themes in the zip file - what stopped you from uploading (via FTP) only the one folder that contains your theme?
