Thesis Theme - What is a skin?

Hello,

I am totally new to Word Press and am still getting hip with the lingo.

I have heard that the Thesis theme is a good theme to work with. I have been trying to find something that fits my needs as well as the design I want.

I keep coming into the phrase 'Thesis Skins'. Is this different than the theme? If I find a 'skin' I like, do I already have to have the Thesis theme?

    Basically its a theme for thesis. Thesis is the framework and has all the great features you need. The only thing it lacks is its graphics, so there are thesis skins out there to give you a better variety of styles to choose from while using thesis. With so many people using thesis, you cant just have one theme, or the web would be saturated with the same looking pages.
