Well I'm on the verge of starting my authority site I'm figuring out categories, keywords and all that. But one mandatory cost I'm assuming is a theme, I hear a lot about thesis theme and clickbump, but I want to keep the cost down as much as I can cause I have only around $250-300 to work with. Thanks for opinions guys.

I recommend either Thesis, Woo theme, or Genesis by studio press. You budget should cover one of those three

Genesis with a good child theme will run you about 80-100 bucks. A few bucks more than thesis (one site license), but you can use it on unlimted sites. The same option for thesis runs $164.

Woo theme is better for your budget, at least you need 70$ for it.

I like the genesis theme and if your budget allows, buy the complete theme pack. You get so much value for your money and the you have themes for whatever you want to do in the future. Genesis has a great support forum and it is actively monitored and updated.

Unfortunately I do not want to spend pretty much all my money on the whole package, although I would love to. I am just torn between the two and I'll figure one out eventually, thanks guys.

Themeforest has some great themes. My favorite is Angular.

Remember now, Genesis and Thesis are frameworks, with child themes. Think of a framework as a car's insides, with the child theme being the paint and body (got that off genesis manual pdf). I like a framework because no matter what child theme you use, everything is in the same place and works the same (most of the time). I'm going to mention genesis again. I must have tried 100+ different themes, and came to settle on a framework, genesis. A little learning curve (as well as thesis), but anything can be done using a Google search. Also, genesis support is top notch, with forums and direct contact to the developers.

Thanks for further breaking that down, so would it be wise to buy the Genesis framework and then buy a child theme?

    Hi TheDefiled,

I bought Clickbump Express and SEO just recently.
    The discount above is fantastic!
I´m struggling with my first website right now,
not because of the software, simply my own inexperience.
(I´ll PM Scott since this came up!)
