Can someone help me find a theme?

I have a natural (slightly metaphysical) healing and teaching business. I have local hands-on services as well as at a distance services. I am planning on eventually adding an on-site store where I will offer access to ebooks, courses and workbooks, etc.

I want a creative theme that will allow for beautiful photography, but I don't need or want a portfolio theme. I also need to have a blog, as well as a way to organize articles/content.

I have found a few things I like, but nothing that is perfect. I am a beginner in this, am learning as I go, so it needs to be rather simple.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Is this in the wrong place? If it is, I will repost in another forum. I really need some advice. I know it is a simple question, I have just chosen wrong before (in another project) and want to think it through a bit more this time.

No, it is NOT a simple question. (For us.)

Nobody knows better than yourself what kind of theme fits YOUR site's needs.

You are asking the wrong question. You will have to find it yourself. Explore various marketplaces like StudioPress, WooThemes, ThemeForest. Check WordPress Free Themes Respository before checking the marketplaces.

THank you, so far the one I have been interested in is from Theme Forest, maybe I'll just go with that even though there were aspects missing that I need.

Funny, I am always seeming to ask the wrong questions

I personally like Thesis, but depending on your knowledge of HTML and CSS, you may want to stay away from it. It is a lightweight and fully function (and SEO-adored) theme that is relatively cheap for WordPress.

If you don't like Thesis, you can try out WooThemes, ElegantThemes, or ThemeForest. Out of all of those providers, I personally prefer ElegantThemes, for they are generally on the ball with their sheer divinity. They really are beautiful. Photography made me instantly think of EG - they're nothing but that.

    Good luck!

      Thank you, WB,

      WordPress - Brick & Mortar - A Personal Business Theme | ThemeForest

It looks like a great store front, but I am not sure if I can customize it to include a store and a place for articles (to organize) and not only a blog. I wanted a site with a blog, but also want informative articles in a dropdown tab.

Is this all beyond the scope of a beginner? Does this look like a good theme for what I describe?

      TIA

I like one that I found through ThemeForest

What do you think of the theme I have tentatively chosen? For my needs as I described them. I thought it looked simple and clean, already has nice look and feel. Am I missing something (before I act)

      TIA

you can check Theme Forest, but mainly with themes you will end up wanting to change something in the theme to work with what you need, also depends on which cms you use, many have tons of great themes, I used drupal for this site Joye 510 Atomizer was able to modify a couple objects and get it live within a couple of mins. Wordpress has a ton of great blog themes, drupal is more of a complex cms, joomla is kinda... in the past I think.

    hope this helps!

Studiopress' Genesis framework and child theme works well for me - I love the flexibility. Themes are full SEO optimization ready and via the Simple Hooks feature you can do almost anything. It's a good theme system to grow into and is updated for significant releases of Wordpress. I also find the css easy to follow, understand and change.

They do photo gallery themes too.

Nope, I don't work for Studiopress - but I am a very happy user

The thing with "themes" that you can buy is that those are NOT unique... means that lots of other people already use them.

To build a site/blog with a store also needs a backend to handle your store. As far as I could see the Brick & Mortar theme does not have a backend for a store.

Unique look = no theme you can buy

I used a text framework (Carrington) and customized the look myself (see www.cookielessdomain.com )

Thanks, I actually found a good premium theme and I am happy with it for now. So far though, the support is a bit slow, I don't know if that is normal. I will keep these ideas though for future sites. I have two sites I am getting ready to build so will be searching for more premium themes
