Could you guys tell me what are the differences between a blog and a website?

If possible, please show me yours.

Kind Regards

you can use both blog and website publish on internet. These days not much difference between blog and website now day many web designer and developer using blogging you must know what a blog is and I safely assume that you know what a website is.
So the basic difference between a blog and a website is that on a website your main page remains static (it is constantly changing in case of a blog) and other pages contain mostly static information. On blogs -- at least on majority of blogs -- you can leave comments and interact with bloggers and other visitors. Most of the times this does not happen in case of a website although even on a website you can have online forums and discussion threads.

These days, the term 'blog' and 'website' is pretty much interchangeable. I've set up Wordpress blogs to look no different from a more traditional website, but I haven't attempted to do it the other way around.

The "pedantic" linguist in me (that cries when people use less than precise definitions, LOL) has to say no.
No, just because you are using in the background the same CMS, it doesn't mean that the two terms became interchangeable!

From a taxonomy point of view: a blog is a narrower notion (a category, if you wish) inside the much wider term of web site. At least if we operate with the term as the majority of the population does (which, of course) is wrong... LOL)

People use the two terms exactly as the OP does: by blog they mean a WordPress installation... and by website they mean a static site, composed by html files.

Now, every thing that is on the WWW - is a website. Remember, the 3rd W = web!

Blogs are a special kind of websites... like the captain's log during his journey on the ocean - they were meant to record people's journey on the web. Hence web+log = weblog... > blog.

Publishing software (including blogging software) is becoming more and more sophisticated and feature-rich. You can use them for a lot of non-blogging activity as well. However, the multiple use of the software itself didn't make the differences to disappear.

        Just my $0.02 (CAD).
        :p

Websites are mostly used by traders/providers of service. Blogs are run by people who publish articles.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your inputs. I don't want to spend so much money, but end up not getting the result I want. And I also don't want to trouble my contractor.

A Website is most often a Storefront for your products and services.

Blogs are websites with fresh content. If the content is current and high quality, it will be found in the Google search with a much better ranking.

  • I think people mostly use web sites for offering a service or selling a product nowadays. Blogs are very popular if you need to have a personal blog.
