Still need an FTP?

I saw a video on YouTube where someone uploaded files from his computer to his domain using an upload button in cPanel. I haven't done any website work in a while. Do I still need to use ftp software? Thank you.

  • you can use the cpanel file manager to upload and manage files and folders
  • If you use cpanel you wont need to use ftp. But you have to upload one file at a time. So it is bet to .zip your files then uncompress them on the server (through filemanager).

  • CPanel is the bomb if you have it. No need for any FTP programs with it.
  • FTP is the best for mass uploading such as an entire site or 1000 page script. If you just need to upload a few pages or images using cpanel upload feature is fine.
  • There are some tools like net2ftp to do this but dont know the file size limit of them.
  • It will be better to use a ftp client in my opinon. try filezilla
  • If you have even 5 files to upload at a time, it is worth getting a ftp program. It can save you a lot of time down the road.
