What is better: A Blog on the Home Page or just one static page.

Hello,

I would like to know what should be better for SEO:

1 a blog on the home page
2 a static home page

I have several websites that have just one static page on the home page and seperateley a blog in the menu.

These days I see more and more websites online that have a blog on the home page.

What should be better for SEO purposes?

Or shoulld I put the blog on the home page and then use an informative post about the site as a sticky post?

    For my blogs I like to use a static home page with a featured posts slider (with my best content), along with some other ads and widgets, and my blog posts separately. I always find it very hard to find other interesting posts on blogs that have everything plastered on the homepage.

    Just make it easy for your readers to find your content.

    As for SEO? I'm no guru, but since each one of your posts has it's own SEO setup, I'd assume it really won't make a difference if you use a static or blog homepage - at least to rank individual posts. As for ranking the homepage, if you have visitors land and find themselves confronted with all your posts at once, chances are they'd leave pretty quickly without finding what they were looking for.

    Like I said, I'm no SEO Guru, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

      As you explained I think that should be the best way.

      You talk about a featured post slider.

      How do you create these silders?

      Are you using a plugin for this?

    You can create a featured slider yourself or use a plugin.

    To create it yourself, you'll need add a featured category/tag when writing posts, then look at using WP_Query to pull your featured posts from the database. Afterwards you'll need to add in some kind of jQuery slider script to make things slide.

    Otherwise, google Wordpress Slider Plugin or browse the Wordpress Plugin Directory and search for one there.

    Hi i would go with second, its really good to place blog on home page rather than a static site. Although the benefit of static site is that good will take that page very light and will crawl it on ease. But now the thing has changed now google want refreshing content and this can be done by placing blog on home page.
