Hi there, I may or may not be in the right part of the forum here, but thought I would drop post in anyway.
I currently setting a business creating mobile websites, but am finding that many small business already have websites using the free sites, like Yell, Thomson Local and Google.
I am looking for any direction or recommendation from anyone that can suggest a good CMS website software I can purchase to produce basic websites for my clients which allow cpanel access.

Any help would be most appreciated?

Thanks

Many here will suggest WordPress (myself included).

There are a myriad of themes available to start building upon, which are easily customizeable for whichever niche you want to get into.

Personally I use WordPress and either Thesis or Genesis (info in my sig). Their theme frameworks which you use as a blank canvas to start building upon. Both frameworks have many 3rd party themes which come bundled with media queries making them mobile ready.

On the ohter hand you can look into something like Joomla or Drupal (but personally I don't like them).

Otherwise you could look into some flat-file system (one that doesn't use a database like MySQL). I'd highly recommend Kirby – Home

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Justin B!

If Joomla or Drupal or other CMS, the access to the beginners it is very difficult but wordpress is very simple.

As a longtime developer website, I recommend using wordpress reasons:

    User-friendly
    SEO friendly
Hundreds of thousands of free plugins available for your job

    And much more

I usually don't waste time writing that kind of post - most of the time I remain on the side lines - but well, I figured, just once... Because I am tired of seeing always the same arguments.

      Not true...
Well, I don't know Drupal so I can't talk about it, but concerning Joomla if you have a good guide and / or tutorials you can learn pretty quickly. To me, its organization seems clearer that WordPress' but well, I guess it may also be a question of habits...

So is Joomla once you take the time to study it a little bit. I'm guessing you're talking about the administration area here, the front-end's "friendliness" should never depend on the CMS you're using...

SEO isn't about what your CMS can do. At all. All CMS can help you with your on-site SEO, be it with your permalinks, your titles (H tags), your site map, etc... But if you don't know what SEO is or how to play that game, you will go nowhere, regardless of the CMS you use. Learn SEO, part 1: on-site SEO - Best Website Design

      Home - Joomla! Extensions Directory

I haven't done the count so I don't know if there are "hundreds of thousands" but... So far I've nearly always been able to find what I needed! The cases where I couldn't find a free extension that matched my needs are extremely rare...

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

    Hi,

Personally, I don't call those "websites"... They're mostly useless crap.

Now to your question, most people here will tell you WordPress, but I'm one of the rare ones who don't like it... I'm getting far better results with Joomla, but of course I'm not talking about just installing it, whatever the solution you choose it takes time to experiment with it, get used to it, and identify the extensions that will make a robust and valuable website. Don't expect to be fully ready by tomorrow if you've never done this. It's true you can install a CMS within an hour or less. It's not true you can build a good website within an hour.
