Would like your feedback on my site

Hi

It's been a long time since I've built a site with any substance.

I made this site last week, and now have it up and running. Still need to build up the database and directory, but it should be totally functional otherwise.

Basically I want the functionality of 800notes.com with my own look. I've added a business directory of known collection agencies and telemarketers to differentiate my site from 800notes.

    Love the idea of your website. There's too much things going on the first page but still all the text are readable and everything looks clean.

    Thats a nice clean look.
    Just two suggestions:
    a) change the page color to a darker shade
    b) can give the right panel a base color

      It looks oldschool like it was built in the late 90's early 00's. It could use a facelift and maybe some seo.

    I think the page should be shortened and the background color be changed.

    I do like the "caution" color in the header and the "stop" color splashed in.

    I like it, and the idea is great!!

    Just some thoughts
    there is a lot of yellow
    the header yellow is good, maybe making it look like a warning sign, add some black stripe or dashed black border
    change the background to a pale color or black, maybe extending the header across too look like 'police line' tape.

      I've updated the site to a blue color. I just got tired of the yellow. Digging around .gov sites and various competitors, Ii found they use lots of blue. I think it gives a more neutral but professional feel.

      Blue, white, and yellow/red accents will be my goal. Still lots of work to do, but I am using the header across the top instead of the border style look with a background.

        Yeah, those cartoons are a bit lame. Will change those today. Thanks for the feedback.

        The design is getting there overall, need to work on a final logo to kind of set the signature of the page. I'm working on the comment system, right now you can add replies to existing reports, but they look like just additional reports and not responses.

        800notes does have a comment system that is very subtle too. I'm trying to distinquish my site with a supplementary database of existing company addresses and phone numbers. This directory is slowing getting indexed to bring in some organic traffic.

        I found another highly regarded site called callercomplaints.com
        They did an excellent job in design, most of which is a little over my head using css and programming in asp. Still, I think I can achieve the same level of functionality and quality look over time.

        Callercomplaints also did a great job with article marketing and press releases that get tons of traffic and reviews from offline sources like newspapers and radio. The only part about the site that is a bit misleading is the concept of fighting back against telemarketers. Leaving comments about a telemarketer doesn't stop them from calling, it only raises the level of awareness to others. There's only one way to reduce telemarketing calls that I know of and that is to add your number to the do not call registry.

        I'm gonna keep working on this site a little at a time, until I finally get mostly positive feedback and the look and feel I'm going for.

    I loooove the premise, those rotten phone people annoying all day and night, I just told my partner about it and she wrote down your link (to use it!), easy to remember, that's good, and very useful to today's embattled consumers.

    seriously I don't know what value you can provide for your audience....

    maybe you can think of something that will prevent those nuisance calls from calling people again? or educate people not to give their contact nos. unnecessarily....

    In short, provide some values for your audience.

      Thanks, I'm getting some nice organic traffic already. There is demand for this kind of site.

      Gonna do some article writing next to that end. Hopefully build some nice backlinks in the process. Thanks.


      I did a lot of work on it today. Got rid of some of the tacky clip art, changed the shade of blue, and redid the menu. Also put the search/start field in a prominent position to encourage people to use it. Some of the other pages need a little tweeking, but I think I'm near a final design.

      Take another look and let me know what you think!
