Format looks good, just add some CSS to the whole table to change the font size to something more professional (perhaps Verdana).

Is it the font sizes or the font style you talking about?

  • Cannot say good. You are only orienting the money. Not quality content. The page seems like basic HTML one. You a CMS and you can have more control.

Thanks for responding. Yes, the next thing I want to do is incorporate a style sheet. I know it is basic html, but that is what I wanted to start with and work from there.

Almost looks like you did the html it in notepad. There are many website building softwares out there to help you, or people who can build one for you.
The 'contact us' should at least link to a form page where ppl can fill it out and submit, not just a mailto: line

Looks like you are building your site from scratch. I ve tried it once and I felt like killing myself cause I m not a programmer or graphic designer. Suddenly I'd realize that majority of the website are running on wordpress platform.

You just have to learn about wordpress or choose other cms platform(eg joomla, drupal etc). After that, setting up website is like a piece of cake. Leave those things to the professional. There are many theme you can choose from at themeforest.net

      Good luck!

Thanks. I think your right. I did build it from scratch and it has been a pain of the you know what. I think I will look into wordpress. Is that the one you would recommend? Will I loose any of the link addresses from the pages I made, when I convert to wordpress?

I first started with Joomla, but I felt it was complicated for me. When I switch to Wordpress I fell in love with it. CMS(Content Management System) is different then the html website. You need to log in to make a post and your new post will automatically shown on your site. With else in html, you need to build every single page and that is what you don't want to do. Go to Wordpress.org to learn more

What you need to learn in CMS is:
          1) How to setup (Wordpress, Joomla n etc)at your host server(some hosting will provide you the "one click" installation step)
          2) Understand the file functions on 'wordpress folder' - php, css
          3) How to install theme and plugins, make post, page and etc
          4) Ftp - upload your file faster and convenience

For more advance guys, they will setup on 'localhost' before upload to the server.
Sorry, if i confuse you. You just google wordpress and you will understand....

Looks like something I would have made hand coding back in 1998. Like another poster said, I would get a feel for Wordpress and find a theme you like to use as a starting block for what you want done. You can then customize it if you know html and css so you can make it how you want it to look. Good luck.

    Hi there!
If your site is for selling some products, why not try magento..?
The only problem on using magento is that its really hard to manage..
How about if you make a header, content and footer to make it more organized..?
Try posting up an image slider of your products.. That would be great too..

I agree with other posters, you will LOVE WordPress; give it a shot. It opens up so many new possibilities. And it will help you with SEO...

Also as far as stylization goes, try to add some more "line spacing" (CSS: line-height parameter) to paragraph text / link text. It will help make things easier on the eye. Not too much, play with it and you'll find the sweet spot.

    Remember to keep having fun.

Hi VJBoc, I'm sorry to tell you this, but this site looks very unprofessional and old-fashioned (in other words, something that is not modern and was created more than a decade ago). I t does not inspire the kind of confidence necessary to make visitors want to pull out their credit cards and buy!

I know you have already spent a lot of time creating this, but it would be MUCH better for your sales (and for your sanity if you've been hard-coding it in HTML!) if you used one of the quick and easy, modern website builders, and started again from the beginning. It won't take as long to do, because you already have the images and text etc. prepared.

I would try creating just ONE test page using every one of the following services, and then see which you prefer. They are all much easier to use than either Joomla or Magento, which are both quite complex, bloated systems that are best suited to larger businesses/organisations. Totally unnecessary for the relatively simple sales site that you appear to want. These will be easier to manage:

    Wordpress
    Moonfruit
    Weebly
    Sitekreator

I suspect that Moonfruit will best suit your needs as it is both very cheap, has excellent pre-made designs, and has a very simple store/shopping element included in the system.

Anyway, all the best with the future of the business!

[By the way, for the nerdy tech geeks who are thinking of writing in pointing out 'All-Flash-Sites-Are-Bad', you should know that the system automatically creates an HTML version in the background for search engine love, and that they've recently moved over to HTML5 so iPads/mobile phones etc. can read the content. It's a pretty good job they did in handling the changeover...]

If what you're trying to do is learn code and build something from scratch then keep on going. You can do it, but it will take a while to get something really nice looking.

I would guess that once you try Wordpress or one of the other suggestions in these replies you will get hooked. You can still make changes and work with code, but getting it all rolling is a lot faster and looks better to your customers.

All in all I applaud your enthusiasm going at it the old fashioned way!

Great idea in using wordpress. Though I know how to use codes, wordpress have the features that can allow even a beginner to create an attractive site. I suggest choosing a simple yet trendy theme in wordpress. Make your site as user friendly as possible by providing the needed information on the header. Once your done, start posting quality and unique content at a consistent pace.

You can change user experience and make website more user friendly.
On home page you can add image slider to show variety of ads.
You can allow user to categorize search. Also you can introduce today's top 10 search, most recent search etc. on site.

I agree, it does look a bit spammy!

Maybe resizing your 'list' - a smaller font would look neater (if you work with font size in %, visually impared viewers will automatically see the percentage of the size set on their browser, so as long as they have their browser set to their needs, you should be okay).

Also, everything looks misaligned at the moment - a nice header/banner could help with this. The footer ads could do with being wider to fit the text alignment.

Also, when working with your images, maybe add more of a feather when removing backgrounds etc - this way you won't get that 'cut out with scissors' look.

Good luck - keep working at it, it's not far off!

You may want to consider getting a wordpress site, something that is professional looking. A call to action would give you the ability to capture your visitors so that you can re-market to them. I would also consider laying it out differently. These are just a few thoughts.
