I could use some help trying to figure out if I can be doing anything else when writing articles to boost them to the top.

I am currently using the WordPress SEO by Yoast to help write my pages & check for SEO. What are other people using that they like if not Wordpress SEO.

I recently wrote an article
http://www.endthetrendnow.com/2012/06/01/medicine-ball-workouts-free
and it is ranking really low if you search for Medicine Ball Workouts without quotes. I find it if I search google and it's on the 5th page of 100 results per page. If I use quotes "Medicine Ball Workouts", it shows up on the second page.

I wrote the article to optimize for "Medicine Ball Workouts". The competition was low for this keyword phrase. I also used keyword winner and it reported that you only need about 2 links to the article to have it rise in the rankings. I have posed several links to the article and still no luck.

Based on Yoast's SEO methods, the article is just about perfect as far as their SEO pointers. Is there something I am doing wrong, like adding too many bolds or are there other things I can do to make it better?

Here is what Yoast said based on the article.

Backlinks? Age? Reputation? A whole bunch of factors decide the ranking on an article. So just keep doing on-page and off-page SEO. There is no set formula to rank #1.
