Squeeze Page vs. Home Page

I have a blog that I am trying to start up here:

Airline Pilot Investing | Extra Money for Pilots

Right now I pretty much know my home page sucks. So I want to change it and have people download my free report/get on my mailing list. I am using OptimizePress for this blog and was wondering if I make the home page be something like this 'squeeze page':

OptimizePress For Dummies | OptimizePress For Dummies

or more of a home page with some options like this:

SEO Software. Simplified. | SEOmoz

Basically I am trying to figure out the difference between a home page and squeeze page and what is the best way to get people to sign up to my list? My site is for airline pilots to explore ways to make money on the side because they have an awful lot of free time. I've made some products and am thinking of adding affiliate products as well. Any advice would be appreciated - I am definitely a newbie..

    Hey,
First of all, you page has alot of text and less design, no colors, pics, headlines and it's kind of boring to read read and read.
This is a SQUEEZE page: (btw, put there your email and press continue to see the inner section)
    seacret411.com/
    This is a SALES page:
    localvideomethod.com/
You see both are coloured, alot of pics and so on..

Now, the best way to get people to sign up your list is using squeeze pages (opt-in),
here you can see a simpler video created with powerpoint and still it's a squeeze page with opt-in.

If you need more help with Optimizepress, let me know

My suggestion is to create a squeeze page and set it as your home page (you can do this by going to "Settings -> Reading" and choose "a static page"). Then you can offer your product as an OTO and/or on the backend (e.g. your optin thank you page), and then use your autoresponder to follow up your list with your product (and don't forget to build a relationship with them).

Focus on building your list first, build a relationship with them, and then pitch your product(s) to them.
