  • Not without taking a look at your theme files...
  • When having similar issues, the basic troubleshooting starts with switching to the default WP theme (2011) and check if it works. If yes, then you have to take a second look at your theme. If it doesn't, then you have to take a second look at how did you organize your content...
  • Did you use the More tag to insert that break, are you using a widget area to show that excerpt or ??? Like others have said, it could be theme related - but understanding how the read more is being created (by inserting the more tag or by a widget or your theme) will allow us to better help you.

    • I am using the Flexsqueeze theme and it was working well for over a year. Suddenly there are issues. First, my categories were going to a "page not found." Someone suggested looking at the permalinks. I did that and discovered the custom permalink was no longer checked. Not sure why, because it was previously. Changed that and all was fine with categories but now the click to read more does not work. Also, when I click on the title of the post, it goes nowhere.
  • katied772,

If you are asking about the site that is linked in your post...all read more links (read the rest of this entry) from different article summaries have the same url.

Oh, and your titles also have that same url.

    Some thoughts...
What happened when you activated the default theme (as advised above) ? Did the links work?

Did you add or update any add-ins around the time that you started having issues?
Are you using an SEO add-in that may be interfering?

    Last bit...
It seems that your menu selection determines the links for each article title and readmore link on that page.

    • I'm not really sure what you mean by the same url. How do you see that?
The only thing I did was update to the latest version of WP. I did try using a different theme and it still does the same thing, so I assume it is not the theme causing it.
  • test test test
  • Make it sure that where you put your link was correctly configured. And also ensure that there are no problem associated with that syntax.
  • <<I did try using a different theme>>

Themes are not alike for troubleshooting purposes <LOL>

Did you try using the default theme <s>?
Named Twenty Eleven or Twenty Ten

Activate one of those and try clicking on the readmore links on a few pages - report back here please.

    • There can be two problems in your site. First one is that you will not give a link on "continue reading" and second one is that if you are using java script's div collapse function on "continue reading", you might be forget some code.
Here i am suggesting code for collapse
      <a onclick="javascript: if(document.getElementById('8').innerHTML == 'read more'){document.getElementById('toggle_text_8').cl assName='less-profile';document.getElementById('8').innerHTML='r educe';document.getElementById('8').title='reduce' ;}else{document.getElementById('toggle_text_8').cl assName='trigger';document.getElementById('8').inn erHTML='read more';document.getElementById('8').title='read more';}" title="read more" href="javascript:void(0);"><span id="8" title="read more">read more</span></a>
  • Any solution? please

    A.

    • This should be enough for solution: "Expert on XHTML, PHP. In free time I like CSS coding."
  • Just looked at the site and the issue is resolved.

It would be nice if the original poster would note that and also post the resolution here - it may help someone else having the same issue in the future.

    • Sorry, yes it is resolved but not through anything I did. I tried many things but nothing worked. Suddenly, it just resolved.
  • I think it is likely something that you tried.

Often, a server has a delay in showing changes. It can be a few minutes or hours. It is also common that you cannot see the changes unless you clear your cache in your browser.

    Glad it was resolved.
