Website Idea - Looking for a template site

(I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I'm excited to participate in the forum.)

I have an idea for a website where consumers in a specialized industry can self report prices of goods specific to their industry. This is an industry where participants typically buy goods in a just-in-time fashion and there's very little price transparency. They end up paying whatever price their supplier gives them. I want to help these users by creating an online tool where they can report and compare their local prices to those of users across the country.

My problem is that I don't know a good way to organize the data on a website that's clean and user friendly.

Does anyone on here know of a similar site that may offer me some ideas?? Any input is greatly appreciated.

You are looking at it from the wrong end... if you start searching for a "template".

Your first and main concern should be the functionality of the site!
    Questions to ask:
    - what kind of data will be stored; how will be stored; how it will be gathered
    - how is the data grouped (categorized)
    - how will the data be used?
    - how will the data be presented to the user (=visitor): should it be searchable; display variations etc.
    - the flow of the data input
    - the flow of the data output ( -> presentation)

When you figured it out then you need a web developer who would build the script for these functions. If you are lucky, then there is already somewhere a similar script... you just need to know how to search for it (industry-specific lingo)

Finally, somebody should "dress up" all that stuff with some visual presentation - that's what templates are for...
