I will apologize for the lame newbie level questions, but hey if you don't ask you dont know.

I am registering several long-tail keywords as domains and want the serps to send to only one landing page instead of building mini-sites. Can that be done or will Google penalize me. Are the mini pages a better idea?

Thanks
Chief

I don't think you have a way to control your that, it's basically up to the google crawler. In addition, long-tail domain name doesn't guarantee to be the top of the list.

It would probably be best to create mini-sites. In order to get a higher PR, you have to have something to offer the end users. If you just have a simple landing page, that won't benefit the end user thus Google will be less likely to list you at the top of the page for your targeted keyword.

Billy and Chris thanks for the replies. My main landing page will be very active and content rich which is why I want to use it as the main landing page, however if I have to build dozens of mini-site landing pages and link them, I am not opposed to that.

Are you saying you want to register multiple domains that all point to a particular landing page on one specific domain?

If so, you can do that via a 301 redirect, but I can't see any point in doing it in the first place.
