Stock Photo Site Recommendations? (For Covers and Mini Site)

I'm out of touch with this, but what are the good stock photo sites do you frequent or recommend? Free or paid are fine as long as there are clear white or transparent backgrounds on the images.

I want to update some of my graphics on my Product Covers and Mini Sites, and there's no need to get a designer to do again from scratch. Thanks!

Edmund

@justlikethat I'm curious, how come you take your own pics? Do you take against white backgrounds and do your own edit from there?

istockphoto.com has quite a lot of high quality images

you can search using the keyword "isolated" like "widget isolated" and you will see only the images with white background

@EdmundLoh long term building your own stock photo collection will save you mega bucks. Plus you don't have to pay renewal fees. Yup, if you don't pay renewal fees like say with ghettyimages they will chase you down and charge you for copywrite infringement. Then they'll send you some scammy letter to say if you don't do it in a certain amount of time they will go after your for some ridiculous number like $30k. Happens to big and small businesses all the time. They can be real a-holes.

Taking your own pics is easy. You can use a Cannon Power Shot for product and close angle pictures. Those are like $199. Yes take it on a white background. Just bring it into Photoshop and select Images > Adjustments > Curves. Select the white area and it will be super white.

Mine is a Canon T1i Rebel. Which was $700. It's a little more clearer and crisper.

I started as a graphic artist, so I have time to tweak photos and play with lighting.

@justlikethat thanks for sharing. Personally I'd still prefer to just buy off stock photos to save the hassle, but you reminded me about the potential legal troubles there that I've heard some years ago - will heed.
