The Best Wordpress Video Plugin is _______ ?

I am in the process of moving some of my old sites and all of my new ones over to Wordpress from XsitePro2. When I first started out i really liked the WYSWYG simplification of XsotePro. Having "evolved" (lol) , I am now on the Wordpress bandwagon.

I am struggling with what is the best wordpress plugin to use for videos. I would prefer not to just imbed youtube videos.

So what is the Best Video Plugin for Wordpress in your opinion?


Easy Video Player - I like the calls to action embed feature

JW Player for Wordpress - the most downloaded I could find

Flash Video Player - Also highly downloaded, but outdated??

Hana FLV Player - Has Mobile Device support


My initial impression is to go with Easy Video Player. Are there any issues with the plugin any of you have had?

Any input you have would be great!!

    Hey Todd,

    Yes JW player is really good you could also try WP You Tube Player, not sure if this works with anything other than YT

    I hadn't run accross that plugin. I like the fact that you can change the skins of the imbeded Youtube Video.

    While I will of course post youtube vids, I am looking for a plugin which I can post my own videos on without having to upload them to YouTube first.

    You need the EVP software to use the EVP plugin.

    Another good option is LeadPlayer

    While I will still use XsitePro2 for some of my established sites, I see the shift to Social media such as Facebook integration and XSP lags behind in that respect.

    I have EVP2 It's the first paid video plugin I gravitated towards, after not understanding how JW and others worked.

    Bought it over a year ago, and since then there have been quite a few upgrades.

    There is so much one can do with it. Not just a player that plays your creations, but gives options on ... Split testing, like gating, redirects, delayed options, optins within the player, and a lot more.

    Must admit, I haven't tried the others, after not getting to grips with the tech sides so can't comment on them.

    EVP2 Isn't so expensive but it does cost money. But then again, not maximizing what one can do with it, really does make it inexpensive.

    EVP2 looks interesting. The $50 while not too high, it does give me pause. I was hoping for a free or low cost plugin.

    Are there and good plugins made by Warriors (WSO)??

    I use Vooplayer. It's less expensive and works well for my needs.

    I also recommend using Easy Video Player (EVP) on a separate domain and then drop embed code into your Wordpress pages / posts.

    You do NOT need any special plugin to use EVP with Wordpress. The plugin they provide is absolutely not required. Extra plugins add security risks anyway.

    So, rather than use a Wordpress video plugin, get a great video solution that you can use on any website, not just WP.

      Update on an issue I just ran into with JW Player.

      I had (have, until sometime in the dark of night tonight) JW Player on my site.

      My site is a membership site, running WishList Member.

      I did not notice until yesterday that when a logged in user clicks the Wordpress 'W' to see the dashboard that the JW Player Plugin Playlist Manager is visible.

      By itself this isn't a problem, but if a user clicks Media, Playlist to create a playlist, the entire Media Library is visible.

      Wishlist Member is doing a good job of protecting the content, but the filenames are all visible. For images, they are all visible as well.

      I spoke with the guys at Longtail (JWPlayer) and they said this cannot be removed, the Playlist manager is not an option.

      Well, this is bad for me - and I would suspect anyone else with a Mamberhsip site.

      So tonight I have to find/install/edit all my video and audio files (was also using JWplayer for Audio). Big pain....

      The player itself works well, I like the look, skins, etc... however with the entire Media Library visible to all users I cannot keep that player.

      You're welcome. It is too bad, because overall I like the player, but the whole visible media library thing is a killer. The guys at Long Tail didn't even get why I was concerned about it!

    I think I found the answer I was looking for. Mike Lantz (yes that guy) and NickL are launching a WSO soon with what looks like a great video player.

    I am definetly in. The question i have is what level I should go for. I am thinking about the unlimited vs the developers version. I ussually keep most of my sites, but do sell a few, so it is a touch question.
