Hi all,

I have a wordpress blog built with a basic wordpress theme and my question is this:

Is it possible to change a theme once the website has been created?

Thanks
Rob

Does changing the theme have any implications with regard to the content on
      my blog?

The content should remain the same but you will probably have to modify it as it will be laid out differently.

Changing themes won't affect your content but as Clair mentioned, you may have to fix the layout of paragragh's, text/fonts etc...

It's very easy to change the theme once Wordpress has been installed. In fact you can do it within the Appearance >> Themes menu section. Simply upload your new theme as a .zip file and there you go!

Yes you can change it but need a little customization for the new theme.
You must do it by admin panel and careful about the database.

Yes you can change your theme after it's been installed, but please note that if you're doing SEO and have a site that is established well in the SERPs already, a change of your WP theme can be a disaster for your rankings. It may take a few month or so for your site to recover. That happened to me once, since then I am very careful selecting a theme when I'm launching a new site and once I've picked one I never change it later on.

The one thing that will change when you change your theme is if the theme you're using has a Theme Options panel where you can customize your blog and add ads, etc., you will lose that using a different theme. Some themes, mostly premium themes have that so it's very easy to add advertising and logos, etc. So you may have to add your sidebar ads to the new theme you choose through widgets.

I would change the theme if its not working, however the best way to change your theme to do what you want is as mentioned above use widgets to improve your existing theme. Less work. I know I have played with theme changes and found myself going back to the very first one. The time to change up a theme is just to much. Again this is just an opinion.

Hey Rob, switching your theme is usually a safe bet if you haven't customized anything. You'll want to go back through your site to make sure any images you have are still in their proper places since sometimes themes that have different size layouts can affect how your images sit in relation to your text. Overall, it usually works out pretty well. You'll probably have to redo your menu though.
