Hey guys..

I keep reading articles that "flash is dying".. or, I assume at least for mobile devices..

Which of these design tools (flash vs html5) is currently most widely adopted for desktops on browsers IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari?

I really have no idea which to go with...

I'm looking at having some moving graphics.. Something really eye catching.

Help is greatly appreciated!

You are going to find that your time and effort to learn and use HTML5 will pay dividends now and into the future vs the time and effort you will extend to learn flash.

HTML5 is the future of the web. Flash, having served an incredible purpose in bringing rich internet apps to the browser, is showing its age and is being supplanted by html5.

Learn html5 (and css3). You won't be sorry.

Here are a few resources you might want to follow to learn more:

If you use HTML5 for video/animations at this point, roughly 1 out of every 4 visitors to your website will not be able to see it. Contrast that with Flash, which is estimated to be installed in 98% of all desktop browsers.

For that reason, I still prefer to use Flash for web video. In a few years though, that may change (once HTML5 becomes better supported).

Brendon, thanks... THIS is what I was looking for...

I don't care which is harder to learn (im going to pay someone to make the site)... I don't care which will be more supported in 5 years.. hell, 5 months!

I just want to know which one has the bigger user base RIGHT NOW...

And I suppose that it's flash....

So again, if anyone else wants to weigh in further... would really appreciate it!

Right now... Flash still does, by far. Though that will likely change a few years down the road.

I'd say HTML5. Drop Flash - it's pretty much dead on web and mobile. Just convert your videos to .mp4's and use the <video> element.

I hate flash(sorry i really do) it's not meant to build websites with.....but it's up to you, if you don't consider all the iOS users as a target user base which is not only iPhone but ipad as well then you can go with flash but you should remember, iPad generates 25% of U.S. mobile web traffic(and this was in 2011) Apple's iPad now generates 25% of U.S. mobile web traffic - FierceMobileContent

    My 2 cents

I do not think any body loves flash site because it takes much time to load so you should work on html5 as others have already said a lot about it.
