Wordpress...so simple, yet so complicated!

Hey all.

I am still learning wordpress and I was wondering if anybody knew how to make a page where it stands by itself and single...with just that particular content on it...and not the next page and headline right after it. As it stands now, all my pages follow each other and I don't know how to hyperlink the tabs across the top with its specific page.

I have been inside my dashboard for a long time and I don't know where to change this setting. Obviously, it has something to do with "pages" but that's all I know.

Would appreciate the tip from someone. (I also want to be able to learn how to switch the navigation tabs's order i.e. left to right.)

Thanks...

If you're trying to set a "home page", go to settings: reading: and you'll see "Front page displays". Set that to "a static page". Is that what you were looking for?

If your theme supports custom menus you can create one with any item and order you want.

Probably the easier way is to install a plugin called pageMash. You can order the pages, even hide them if you want and that should reflect on your navigation menu. Hope that helps.

Go to Appearance: Menus. There you should be able to see your menu. If not, just create a menu and add the pages you would like in the order you would like.

Also if your theme doesn't support menus you can setup the page order on each page settings. When you are in edit mode for a page on the right side you have "Order" and you just need to enter a number there.

To simplify WordPress remember two things:
    1. It can do anything you want it to do.
    2. Someone else has already had the same problem, and between plugins and forums the answer is there.

WP has added about 500 plugins a month for the past year, and it gets easier daily.
