I know this might not be the right place to post but I can't see a troubleshooting section on this forum. I have been struggling all day to get my site working that I purchased with a new domain earlier.

I have my domain with Go Daddy and my hosting with Hostgator. I added the nameservers on Godady about 7 hours ago now. I can see my domain so I assume propogation has complete. But I cannot get Wordpress working. Any domain extentions arn't working also like /cpanel.

When I try these Word press or cpanel extentions on my domain it just takes me back to my go daddy parked domain. I've tried everything. I had a chat with a host gator representative and he can see the Wordpress login but I can't...

Please see the conversation below and advise what might be happening. Thank you

(11:53:38pm)System:Customer has entered chat and is waiting for an agent.
(11:53:48pm)Joseph A.:Welcome to HostGator LiveChat. I'd be glad to assist you today.
(11:54:12pm)jamie:hello
(11:54:24pm)Joseph A.:Hey there! How can I help you?
(11:55:06pm)jamie:I've been having some problems with my new domain that I purchased today through go daddy and use hostgator to host the domain
(11:55:25pm)jamie:I have added the nameservers which I beleive is all I had to do
(11:55:50pm)Joseph A.:Sure, what can I assist with?
(11:56:12pm)jamie:I have since added a host file to be able to view my webpage. But I have has instaled Wordpress but cannot open it
(11:56:33pm)jamie:I installed it in a sub folder
(11:56:59pm)Joseph A.:Could you please provide the affected URL?
(11:57:02pm)jamie: (provided URL)
(11:57:39pm)Joseph A.:Are you able to get to /wp-admin? Or is the error, after you log in?
(11:57:55pm)jamie:It doesnt get to the wordpress log in page at all
(11:58:09pm)jamie:just takes me back to my domain
(11:58:26pm)jamie:even with /cpanel or anything on the end
(11:58:33pm)Joseph A.:I am able to get to the log in page, just fine.
When did you change the name servers?
(11:58:52pm)jamie:about 5-6 hours ago i think
(11:59:14pm)jamie:i added the host command in windows/diver/etc/hosts also
(12:00:03am)Joseph A.:I am able to get to the log in page,

He provided the redirect link which takes him to wordpress login...

(12:01:18am)jamie:i clicked on that link. its still wating to connect
(12:01:31am)Joseph A.:Ah, in this case, it is probably still propagating on your side.
(12:01:35am)jamie:trying on both google chrome and I.E
(12:02:07am)jamie:really? even after I changed the windows host file and can see my domain?
(12:07:04am)Joseph A.:Have you tried to clear your browser cache?
(12:07:11am)jamie:yes
(12:07:34am)jamie:the webpage is just hanging on both chrome and I.E
(12:07:46am)jamie:when i click that link you provided
(12:07:50am)Joseph A.:That is very odd, it seems to be redirecting for me.
(12:08:01am)jamie:I am using no firewall
(12:08:34am)jamie:even without wordpress its happening
(12:08:45am)jamie:with /cpanel also
(12:08:59am)jamie:it should take me to the CP with that extension but isnt
(12:09:57am)Joseph A.:That generally means that the domain name is still propagating.
(12:10:54am)jamie: ok I will leave it today and check tomorrow. by the way, should I be seeing my webpage as go daddy parked?
(12:11:13am)jamie: or should that change to hostgator parked or seomthing when propogation completes
(12:14:44am)jamie: its showing as go daddy parked. it always has done
(12:15:02am)Joseph A.:Right, so when that propagates, it will show a HostGator Getting Started Page.
(12:15:31am)jamie:i see. So as its showing as go daddy still you must be right. Still propagating
(12:15:48am)jamie:bit odd that it works for you.
(12:16:16am)Joseph A.ropagation is the process where your new name server (DNS) information is spread to all the computers in the world. Until propagation is complete, your domain and emails will not work consistently.
Sometimes, it will show on different locations.
(12:17:07am)jamie:I thought i would receive a page not found error during propogation
(12:17:31am)jamie: would have thought that the fact im seing my domain page would suggest propogation has complete. but i guess not
(12:17:41am)jamie: ok. I will check tomorrow
(12:18:04am)Joseph A.:Sounds good. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
(12:18:22am)jamie:no thats all. Thanks for your help.
(12:18:25am)jamie:goodbye

When you transferred the name servers from GoDaddy to Hostgator, did you then go in and add the new domain to your account in Hostgator, such as "add-on domain"?
This is a new domain made today with no information on at all. I didnt click on add-on domain.I am not supposed to right? I just added my domain name onto hostgator upon sign up.

Your domain might not be fully propagated yet. I'd give it a day or so.

As luvtrees has already said, give it some more time for the domain to be fully propagated. It can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours sometimes.

      Also, try clearing your cache.

24-48 hours is at the most. On a new domain, it should be almost instant. Type in http://intodns.com/yourdomain.com and the nameservers will be listed at the top.

This is the first thing that tech should have done.

If the nameservers are listed correctly, you will need to wait a bit.

      The name servers are correct.

I went onto my domain as admin with a proxy and it shows the Wordpress page.

I also ran a trace to my domain from CMD and the last hop was godaddy.

I guess this suggest that my internet provider Virgin media are just slow so everything on my end is still propagating whilst the proxies and the host gator tech can already see the correct page.

      I will wait.

      Thanks for your help guys

Great, it appears the issue resides with your ISP, or an ISP between the GoDaddy network & you. It's becoming increasingly common for ISP's to cache DNS records longer than they used to. TW Telecom is notorious for doing this.
