Placing images onto websites and blogs

Firstly sorry for hogging all the attention on here today - you know what its like the want to know about everything one minute and the rest of the time everything is fine!
What i wanted to know is again in the html subject
I wanted to put pictures of my ebooks or membership cards onto my blog and let people click through to the page with a hyperlink
What html code would i put in to the widgets on wordpress to make this possible.
secondly i have a load of really nice payment buttons and i wanted to change them from the standard paypal ones what would i need to change in the html to make this work?
this is probably really basic to the rest of you but to me its difficult.
