Thumbs up Converting an existing html site to Wordpress, any suggestions?

I am changing service provider and have decided to update my htm version to WP, using all the same information. I plan to have WP install and run alongside the html version, gradually converting over and then doing a 301 redirect. What should I think and plan for?, as I do not want to lose my Google ranking.

    No don't do redirect, I heard it's not good with google penguin. Here's how you should convert your html into wordpress templates/pages.

    If you're converting an HTML site to WordPress you absolutely must redirect each of your old pages to the new pages - one to one. The reason is because the WordPress permalinks will be in a different format from your current page URLs so if you don't set up the redirects you will lost all your links.
